The diesel engine dominates the field of commercial transportation and agricultural machinery on account of its superior fuel efficiency. However they emit more emissions. The use of oxygenated fuels seems to be a promising solution towards reducing emissions in existing and future diesel engines. Oxygenated fuel is a chemical compound containing oxygen. It is used to help fuel burn more efficiently and cut down on some types of atmospheric pollution. Oxygenated fuels are characterized by the following molecular conditions of the fuels: molecular weights are low and the molecules have high hydrogen to carbon ratios and a low number of carbon to carbon bonds which lower the formation of solid carbon particulates, molecules contain oxygen which suppress the formation of soot, molecular bonds break up to radicals at reasonable activation energy which leads to high cetane numbers. The oxygenated blends usually enhance the combustion efficiency, burn rates and the ability to burn more fuel and these blends offer the reduction of exhaust emissions. Oxygenate utilization to produce "cleaner burning" diesel fuels has been known for over fifty years. Oxygenates are well known to reduce particulate emissions. Low molecular weight alcohols, such as methanol, ethanol, and t-butyl alcohol, have been reported to reduce emissions. Higher alcohols, carbonates, diethers, such as diglyme, and various glycol ethers have also been reported. Particularly attractive are P-series glycol ethers, which contain both ether and a propylene glycol end-group. This paper deals with 2-Ethoxy Ethyl Acetate criterion and emmision reductions in modern diesel engine. Various application strategies to reduce emissions and enhance diesel fuel performance ...

Exploring Experimental Designs And Quasi Experimental Design Essay

- Research design can be reflected in the structure of exploration – this type of research gives the base to the design of the project. It holds the project together. We regularly depict a configuration utilizing a compact documentation that empowers us to abridge a perplexing outline structure effectively (Trochim, 2006). In Weeks 2 and 3, we discussed experimental designs and quasi-experimental design. An experimental design is a study in which the specialist controls the level of some independent variable and after that processes the result....   [tags: Scientific method, Experimental design]

Essay on Mitoxantrone and Glatiramer Acetate to Treat MS

- There are a few disease-modifying agents demonstrated to treat MS, two of which are MX and Glatiramer Acetate (GA), which is also known in the market as Copaxone . In general, disease-modifying agents reduce the aggravation of the disease, lessen the number of new lesions detected on MRI scanning, and some of them might slow the progression of the disease. Aside from that MX and GA are nearly different in every other. While MX is an anthracenedione-derived chemotherapeutic drug, GA is an artificial polypeptide composed of L-glutamic acid, L-lysine, L-tyrosine, and L-alanine.21 Furthermore, MX has been proven to treat aggressive forms of MS such as worsening RRMS, SPMS and Progressive-Relap...   [tags: immune, patients, medication]

Essay about Efficacy of Echinacea on the Action of Cyproterone Acetate in Male Rats

- ABSTRACT The study aimed to evaluate the effect Echinacea extract (E) on the testicular antioxidants function in normal rats or that subjected to anti-androgenic compound, cyproterone acetate (CA). Rats were divided into 5 groups treated daily via an oral tube for two intervals 2 and 4 weeks, 1st control, 2nd E (63mg/kg), 3rd CA (25mg/kg), 4th E+CA and 5th E as prophylactic one week before E+CA treatment. So CA used as a positive control compound with antiandrogenic activity with proposed testicular oxidant....   [tags: Research Analysis]

The Chemical Structure Of Ethyl Cinnamate5 Essay

- Discussion: The synthesised ethyl cinnamate weighed 0.56 g, which was equivalent to 140% of the theoretical yield of 0.414 g. This excessive yield was resultant of the impurities within the product, where the solvents, particularly the dichloromethane, were not sufficiently removed from the product. In figure 3, the peak at 5.22 ppm with a normalised intensity of 1.00 evidenced the significant proportion of the dichloromethane in the product, and the peak at 0.88 ppm with a normalised intensity of 0.25 indicated some remaining hexane.4 The unreasonable yield was mostly attributed to these....   [tags: Wittig reaction, Aldehyde, Chemical reaction]

Does Ethyl Mercury As A Syndrome? Essay

- As of recent researches we found many information regarding vaccination cases autism. “Autism is defined behaviorally, as a syndrome of abnormalities involving language, social reciprocity and hyper focus or reduced behavioral flexibility. It is clearly heterogeneous, and it can be accompanied by unusual talents as well as by impairments, but its underlying biological and genetic basis in unknown” (Goes). By the number of autism has greatly increase by a great margin, but many been shut off by media and government....   [tags: Vaccine, Vaccination, Thiomersal, Mercury]

Essay on Exploring the Logic of Experimental Design

- Introduction “Maximin design maximizes either the minimum efficiency, or the minimum relative efficiency of the design relative to the optimal design, over a range of plausible parameter values, by choosing the design with the highest minimum” (van Breukelen, 2013, p. 154). A project worthy of research requires a logical design with strongly articulated elements, appropriate representative populations, and implemented controls to produce conclusive results to support theories, hypothesis, and the proposed research questions....   [tags: experiments, validity, research, control]

Ethanol or Ethyl Alcohol Essay

- Ethanol, or Ethyl Alcohol is a clear, colorless liquid that has a wine-like smell. As one of its names suggest, it is a hydrocarbon that belongs to the Alcohol functional group; a complete, saturated hydrocarbon consists of Carbons and Hydrogen, but in an alcohol one or more of the hydrogen get replaced with a hydroxyl or alcohol group (-OH). This is demonstrated in Ethanol’s chemical formula: C2H5OH; a hydrogen in the original hydrocarbon, Ethane (C2H6), was replaced with a hydroxyl group to form Ethanol....   [tags: clear colorless liquid, hydrocarbon, alcohol]

Evaluation Of An Experimental Study Essay

- Introduction In order to safely deliver competent care, a nurse must be armed with all of the pertinent information about a patient. Breakdowns in communication have been known to cause adverse and sentinel events, making it extremely important for nurses to pass on relevant information at shift change in a timely manner. Although no known best practice currently exists for communication during patient handovers, various strategies have been implemented and studied. One strategy to attempt to improve the quality and delivery of end of shift report in a timely manner includes the employment of a standardized template to complement verbal patient handovers....   [tags: Patient, Health care provider, Health care]

Essay on Production Process of Methyl Ethyl Ketone

- Methyl ethyl ketone is one of the top 100 chemicals produced worldwide due to its high demand and versatile end use. This paper will analyze and compare the production processes of methyl ethyl ketone using patent protected methods of two of the industry’s chemical production leaders, Maruzen Petrochemical Co. and ExxonMobil Corp. The analysis of the two methyl ethyl ketone production methods will enable us to bring to light the evolution of the production process over time and the impact which these processes have on energy consumption and waste production....   [tags: patent, consumption, turnover, environment]

Essay on Experimental and Quasi-Experimental Designs

- Experimental designs Experimental designs are viewed as the most accurate, and most demanding of research designs, requiring strict attention to rules and procedures. Researchers use these research designs to manipulate and control testing procedures as a way to understand a cause and effect relationship. Commonly, independent variables are manipulated to judge or decide their effect on a dependent variable (Trochim & Donnelly, 2008). In order for an experiment to be considered a true experimental design, the design must fit specific criteria....   [tags: Research Methodology]
