People achieve many physical and mental health benefits from exercise, but 79 percent of adults in the US don’t exercise regularly (Hellmich). Many people believe any form of physical activity can be considered an exercise. Exercise is broken into four different groups: aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, balance exercise and flexibility exercise (4 Types). Aerobic exercise is an activity that improves endurance. Some examples of aerobic exercise include walking, running, and playing sports. Anaerobic exercise such as weight lifting helps build muscle and power. Balance exercise is movement that helps a person’s balance. Flexibility exercise such as yoga stretches your muscles. There are different forms of exercises and all of them have various health benefits. Whereas other people might argue too much exercise is bad for their health. Studies have shown daily exercise can help people control weight, prevent diseases, and improve their mental health. People in the US should exercise for at least two and half hours a week to stay healthy.
People exercise to lose or maintain their weight. Most doctors in the US recommend two and half hours of exercise per week for an adult. According to studies in the US, “68.5% of adults are overweight or obese; 34.9% are obese” (Overweight). People lose weight by burning more calories than they consume or eating less. Therefore, if adults in the US start exercising daily they will lose weight by burning calories and building muscle more efficiently. According to doctors people on average will lose one pound for every 3,500 calories they burn. Studies show the best type of exercise to burn calories is aerobic exercise. Some benefits of exercising include, but are not limited to, weight control, preventing and reducing the risk of diseases, and improving mental health. Daily exercise can be a simple solution to many problems such as obesity, depression, stress and many more. But, not many people actually do the recommended amount of exercise of two and half hours every week. However, if they wish to receive the benefits, then they have to exercise. On the other hand there are some people who exercise too much and end up hurting their bodies. People should just focus on how much exercise their body can handle and should not over train themselves since it can be negative towards a person 's health. Even though people can be very busy throughout the day, they should take a small amount of time to exercise daily to live a healthier life.
