Evolution Through the Influence of God

1612 Words4 Pages

Controversy of the origin of life has increased. People feel evidence is necessary to determine a faith and many fear going against the word of God or nature of science. These people have established their own “religion” or belief called the intelligent design theory. Through a combination of scientific evidence and Biblical moralities, the intelligent design theory was established to accommodate believers in the divine Christ and the theory of evolution. This group believes that evolution is occurring, but that God created the start of all life. There are three main notions of the origin of life, evolution, creationism, and intelligent design.
The first theory, evolution, explains how life on Earth formed and how organisms adapted through generations. Scientists have studied the theory for years and have added their own ideas and findings. One scientists Jean-Baptiste Lamarck formulated the theory as a characteristic may be acquired through use or lost through disuse. This characteristic may repeat through generations becoming more complex as it evolves (Silverstein 25). Another proposal is the chemical evolution theory, developed by Oparin and Haldane, it involves the combination of simple organic molecules that form complex compounds (Silverstein 32). To create this theory scientists assumed that during the Archeozoic Era single-celled organisms lived without oxygen (Silverstein 32). Life would have originated from the random combination of organic molecules that were catalyzed by a source of energy, such as lightning. Many question the origin of the organic molecules and the probability a source of energy was available to start the reaction.
This knowledge led Darwin to propose his own theory in 1859, called natural selection...
