Evaluating the Most Effective Parenting Styles with Children
for Positive Outcomes in the Home and Classroom.
A parent is not only the mom who holds you close for nine months and then many years, or the dad who plays baseball with you, but also someone who is there from the start, guiding you to the right path of knowledge and teaching you how to stay on the right path on your own. For years psychologists have defined ways to correctly support a child to adulthood. Some people conclude parenting their children after the child reaches the age of 18 and some have the duty as a lifelong job. As years pass so do generations and media changes very constantly and plays a factor in how children act and respond to certain stimuli. According to (Figure 1), There was a study done in 2009 and people in Poughkeepsie revealed that overall every age group finds is harder to raise a child in today’s day and age than it had been in previous generations, but the older the parent is, the longer the generation gap would be and that factors in the difficulty of understanding how media works with a child’s psychological set up. What a child watches on a screen is what they will imitate through behavior. However, parenting is not a book written by a doctor, it is having a family creating memories and ensuring that your children live in a nourishing environment for their emotional, mental, and physical health. The natural goal of a parent is to ensure that their child or children grow to be mature and able to both support themselves and a family of their own.
Types of Parenting

The findings throughout this study can conclude that, both Authoritarian and Authoritative Parenting are used by parents in today’s society. Both parenting styles can improve a child’s mental competency holistically. In addition both can affect academic and nonacademic self-concept. It is the parent’s rightful responsibility to ensure that the child develops these skills to achieve greater things beyond the classroom and adolescence. On the other hand not only is this a study to reveal the most positive and effective parenting style but also a guide for teachers in the classroom on how to regulate rules and homework. This can be a guide to inform school teachers and administration that there are other factors that can play in and positively effect a child’s academic achievement. (Ishak, Low, Lau 2011).
