Ethics in management is crucial and in order for a leader to succeed; transformation is needed from being a manger to being a moral leader. However even though this process is important and necessary it is extremely difficult to be a moral leader, this is because you would first have to be a leader in which possess a number of important qualities that are also referred to as habits. These certain qualities help distinguish leaders as being either immoral or amoral managers as well as; defining the characteristics of a ethical leader. Gilbert W. Fairholm (2000) successfully analyses the connection between leadership and ethics as he focuses on the “soul of leadership” through the examination of leadership as well as the dimensions it consist of. In this essay I will be explaining the importance of moving from managers to moral or ethical leaders and ethics in management, highlighting the differentiation between immoral and amoral mangers and leaders, the characteristics of moral or ethical leadership as well as the limitation in the notion of transition from being managers to being moral or ethical leader.

As we have moved into the 21st century there has been a societal change or shift in which affect the challenges a business or company face within today 's society establishing the introduction of ethics in management. There are now different issues raised within businesses and therefore due to these changes a transition is essential form being managers to moral leaders and this is what ethical leadership is about.
