“Establishing Ethos!”
During one strange afternoon my older brother arrived home with blood seeping down his hands. He gradually walked towards the medicine cabinet and pulls out a roll of ace hard rap and sanitation wipes. The funny thing was that the whole entire time he was patching up his injured hands, he had the most sinister grin on his face. The telephone rang. It was the police wanting to come and pick up my brother for questioning. As I saw the police come and escort my brother out the house, all I saw on my brother’s face was a grin. We all knew what he had done. No one said anything. My mom just gathered her belongings and left.
I know what you’re thinking, what did he do to get the police to arrest him? Why were his hands bleeding? Why was there a grin on his face? I stated this story to make a point; the most important thing in the world is violence. Some people today are going around causing violence and chaos just because they’re stronger than others. This is like war. When some people don’t see eye to eye with one another they tend to disagree with each other and instead of communicating with one another, they resort to brutality, rage, and destruction. That’s why I suggest to the world, instead of fighting, take the simple approach and just talk things through. I propose first to discuss the disagreement, followed by a brief moment of elaboration towards the conflict, and then determine how the conflict will affect both parties; finally, discuss a solution to the predicament at hand. During the Persian Gulf War alone we lost over 441 soldiers and 776 wounded due to the lack of communication amongst the countries; all of this could have been avoided by simply this. Instead of killing one another, we can merely ...

... the best solution to your problems it isn’t, it’s better to show that the problem itself is irrelevant.” In today’s society some people believe that violence is the solution to all our problems, but it’s not. If the world today would think, before acting. Then there would be less hostility, death, devastation, and turmoil left in this world. For every problem there is always a solution, but it’s up to you to find that solution and make the best of it.
“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.(Maria Robinson).” The theory of life demonstrates how as humans where entitled to mistakes; that as humans we use our past errors to better our future. But if we let ourselves fall for a false world of chaotic destruction, we will never learn from our mistakes and we will be trapped in a cycle of never ending death.
Ok. One night my sister and I were at my father’s house. He lives in Kingsville on 10 maybe 9 acres of land in this [small pause, looks at ceiling] I wouldn’t really call it a farmhouse, just a kind of small house out there. The previous person who lived in the house was supposedly shipped to an asylum, for, you know, normal stuff [pause] schizophrenic or something. My sister and I were at the house one night and we were cleaning up the house while my dad was on some sort of job out of the state and my step mom was at work in the hospital. We were doing our stuff, and then the power flickered, and came back on. We didn’t think anything of it. Then, outside of the door, we heard a noise, kinda like a dog barking, but like, just enough not so that we knew it wasn’t. So, we hear this noise, and start to get fre...
“Non-violence is a powerful and just weapon without cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals.” - Martin Luther King Jr.
To achieve win-win outcomes, it is essential to separate the people from the problem. Thus, it is important to "Face the problem, not the people. The basic approach is to deal with the people as human beings and with the problem on its merits" (Fisher,Ury & Patton,1991, p.40-41).
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton proves the point that violence can be justified if necessary. To inflict change in their lives people often fight with violence instead of peace to evoke change. The world strives for change everyday whether or not you like it. How the people create a change in society whether they use peace or war, it is up to them to decide how to modify our ever changing world. Violence and fight between the Socs and Greasers tells us that both can be justified if it inflicts positive change in society. ‘
..., the only solution is to fix the problem. We shouldn't just obliterate the problem, because problems can be fixed.
King also states that violence is not the answer either in that it brings only momentary results and never achieves permanent peace. "It creates bitterness in the survivors and brutality in the destroyers," (282). King is a firm believer in the saying, "an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind." King affirms that if the oppressed succumb to the temptations of violence, it is the future generations that will bear the endless reign of meaningless chaos. Here, nothing is accomplished and only instills more hatred in both parties.
Having a positive attitude is the best response to conflict, especially in time of war.
“Sometimes when you look back on a situation, you realize it wasn’t all you thought it was. A beautiful girl walked into your life. You fell in love. Or did you? Maybe it was only a childish infatuation, or maybe just a brief moment of vanity.” Henry Bromel talks about how maybe things aren’t as great looking back rather than in the actual moment. We go through life making dozens of choices. Some made in a blink of an eye, others made after a few years of pondering. Some of our choices give us good fortune. Others creates situation we wish were never made in the first place. Some bad decisions in life can be avoid by taking the time to think about the consequences before deciding to change or avoid a decision all together. Many characters in
In Conclusion, The world should create better influences, end all violence, and have better places to live for the children of the future. If the world could change its ways and begin to make better choices instead of continuing the repetitive cycle of terrible judgment than the world could be a much more safer place. Change the aberration of everyone’s actions.
Laying down in your bed, you hear this consistent knocking. You try to sleep through it but it seems as if it will never quit. Curious, you roll out of bed away from the comfort of your wife’s warm body but cautiously move closer, step by step downstairs into the direction of the sound. Each step you take wondering whether or not your house is being robbed. You finally ease your way downstairs and quickly flip the light switch only to find your home empty and totally void of any damage or evidence of a theft of any kind; however, you still hear the sound. You notice it’s coming from your front door, but its 3 A.M. on a school night. The hairs on the back of your neck begin to rise and your heart beats faster, wondering who is violently knocking on your front door. You remember the incident at your store where a brick was thrown through the window and how you angered the community by canceling a game and blemishing a season with such a historical start. You pull the shade back on the front door, revealing not an angered parent, but Timo Cruz, once a player on your basketball team that you haven’t seen for weeks, covered in blood. You hastily unlatch the door and invite him in. At first sight, he begins muttering the events leading up to him now covered in his cousin’s blood. He tells how he scared off some bullies for the other players on the basketball team with the gun in his waistline, but only to witness his cousin slaughtered from across the street.

In some lives mistakes and consequences are drastically obvious, the best example being Neil. Neil was a happy and ambitious child but as we view each segment his life continues downwards. It becomes obvious not only to the viewers, but to Neil himself. Learning from our mistakes is crucial. As life goes on we must learn how to assess our mistakes and move on assuring that it doesn’t happen repeatedly.
My sister acts as though she has a license and she looks around the car and says “I’m sorry I left it a home we were just going to the store to get my mother something because she is sick.” The officer says ok I will follow you home then. Once the officer gets back in his car we all start laughing while at the same time wondering if the police will ask to see our so called sick mother. We slowly take off heading back home thinking of things to tell my dad once he returns home. Pulling up at the house we all had a sigh of relief. We exit the car and expeditiously enter the house while waving at the police hoping he pulls off. Once inside we peek out the window, the police car slowly takes off. We are all surprised at how we just got out that situation. Once again you would think we learned a lesson but really the only thing we learned is how not to drive. When my dad returns home we hope he won’t notice the car is moved, we know everything is ok after about 10 minutes. Another night of boredom out the window. God once again was watching over
You’d block your ears from a loud, piercing sound, and you’d put bandages on your scars to cover them from impurities. You’d expect that the opposite of something can beat or cure it, just like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” However, from time to time, from the smallest bickerings to historical events and terrorist acts, you’d see the pattern of hate and fear stacking on each other, with hopes that the hatred will end itself. Often times, this method fails to completely solve the problem between the two sides; it just adds more heat to the hatred. Therefore, this universal aphorism of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is proven
