Recommended: Benefits of being a veterinarian

Veterinarians are doctors that treat injured and diseased animals. They also give advice on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle for the animals. Getting into vet school may be difficult, but the field is very rewarding. First of all, getting into veterinary school can be extremely challenging. With only 28 accredited schools in the U.S., it is very competitive to get in. There are some steps that can be taken to increase the chances to get into veterinary school. For example, starting early and getting a bachelor’s degree. The bachelor degree is not a requirement, but it is helpful. There is no specific major to get, but it is recommended to get a major in biology or animal science because if a veterinary school doesn’t work, there are other career that can be pursued with these majors. While in school the subject to concentrate most on is, science and math. Some science classes to consider taking are anatomy, biology, animal science/animal production and chemistry courses.
