One reason that Lareau decided to do the study because most American believes in equality and fairness; however, she believes that there is a substantial difference between poor, working, and middle class that most people do not know. She wants to reveal the myth that there is no equality from the beginning of birth. She argues that Middle class kids had many advantages over an individual from working and poor class families. In addition, Middle class kids often had advance verbal linguistic such as interpersonal skills. At the same time, Middle class parents often consult with experts and seek for their advices. Furthermore, Middle class families are more knowledge and resources beyond just food, shelter, clothing, and love like lower families. They have the intention to tell the authority figure that this is what I want or needs in order to serve them the best ability as much as possible. Likewise, they invested large sum of money and time to devote their kids’ talents and true potential in hope that one day these skills can be utilized. Perhaps, this helps them to preserve their status when there are fewer opportunities when in search of good jobs. As a result, middle class parents prepare their kids for real challenges ahead of college and workforces. These kids are comfortable asking questions, making requests, and expressing opinion. They often had a strong Leadership and solid communication skill that the employers valued the most. Inequality constricting these kids from obtaining a bright future from the early childhood and the system is obviously not fair because not every child has the chance to get equal opportunities to begin with. Tyrec Taylor is an African-American male in a black working class neighborhood within high crime area. His father is unemployed and has a drug abuser in the past. Tyrec is an active boy who loves to play in the street. His father is a high school dropout and reading is a difficult task for him. Life in Tyrec is a slower pace and much more relax environment. His mother is a high school graduates who is working as a secretary. Tyrec is a construction worker at the rate of $12 per hour. Both of his parents help him to completed high school degree and his first college tuition fees, yet he dropped out of community college within the first semester.
