What does it take to be an icon of the 21st century? An icon is a symbol representing what a person did to be admired by many people and achieved many things rarely an ordinary person can do. I would consider Tupac to be an icon of the 21st century because he became a living symbol of his generations to many hip-hop and rap fans all over the world. He was the son of Afeni Shakur and Billy Garland. At his teens, his family moved to Baltimore, MD. He attended The Baltimore School for the Performing Arts and studied acting and ballet. At this school, the teachers had an impression of Tupac that he had an outstanding potential. Unfortunately, he had to move to Oakland, CA with his family and that was when he began to, as Tupac called it, “Hang with the wrong crowd.”
As a true icon of the 21st century, Tupac had many great qualities and was very humble because he grew up in the poorest part of the city and he knew the feeling of being poor. After all of his success he never in any way try to flaunt about his wealth and that he showed strength not by money but by the words he sang and wrote. Tupac Shakur can be characterized as a rapper, an actor and a great personality.
One of the greatest aspects that create Tupac is his great talent of being a great rapper. Baltimore was the city where Tupac really began getting into the art of emceeing. In Baltimore, at the age of fourteen, Tupac was known as MC New York. In California, he joined the rap group Digital Underground to learn the ropes of the hip-hop industry, and became the dancer for the crew. A year later, Tupac finally recorded a song with Digital Underground called, “Same Song.” Not long before the group received award-winning success, Tupac came out with his own album called, “2pacalypse Now”, which was also a success.
Conformity can be very crucial, infact a lot of people eventually start hurting themselves or doing drugs just because they don't feel themselves anymore. Why can't society change? why can't that one kid that always follows everyone in the back can turn into the kid that just hangs with the people they really wanna hang with?We need to embrace ourselves so we can stop all this conformity from consuming us.Tupac was a nonconformist, he always did what made him happy and always told the truth.
"After some time Tupac released his own album "2Pacalypse Now", which was a success. His career skyrocketed; he became tight with main pawns in the rapping industry. Tupac signed to Deathrow Labels and released songs and albums with them."
Tupac Amaru Shakur was born on June 16, 1971 in New York City to Afeni Shakur, a Black Panther member since 1968. She gave birth to him 2 months after she was released from Women’s House of Detentions in Grenwich Village. She was charged with conspiracy to bomb several New York public locations and just had her bail revoked. In court she represented herself and won against the state of New York in a surprising turn out. In Incan dialect, his name Tupac Amaru means “shining serpent” and Shakur is Arabic for “thankful to God.” For most of his childhood his crack addicted mother shuffled Tupac between the ghettos of Harlem and the Bronx. Young Tupac began his performance career with the 127th Street Ensemble and then enrolled Baltimore School for the Arts where he was educated in ballet and acting. Tupac was forced to drop out of the school because he had to move to California with his mother, where his criminal career began. He left his house at the age of 17 because of the continuous fights with his mother he then began selling/doing drugs, and was homeless for about 2 years. His life was spiraling down wards at a rapid rate. Till one day he got his big break. Tupac always dreamt about being famous someday, now his dream was becoming a reality. He struck a recording deal with Interscope records. He was on his way to super stardom, but as we all know with fame comes problems. He was involved in the shooting of two off duty police officers, although the chargers were later dropped. He was also convicted of rape, and sentenced to 5 years in Clinton Correctional Facilities.
Through all his family and education issues, he standup himself to become a well-known hip-hop artist according to his history background. From all his released a couple albums and then was offered to be some movies. He make some songs and music videos with them that made it big on the Billboard charts. Tupac was became rich and famous and he is not showing off his own style. This showed that this is him and who he really is. People following his beliefs because he treated people equally and judged people equally. This is a big difference from him and other hip-hop artists. He has a lot of self-values that people are influenced about
In the same fashion that Elvis defined Rock ‘n’ Roll; Tupac Shakur defined the hip-hop music scene, as we know it today. What made Tupac (also known as 2Pac, or Makaveli) so special were his enormous talent, his on screen friendly looks, and the sense that he was “real” and talked the talk, while walking the walk. Tupac was born on June 16, 1971, Tupac Amaru Shakur. He was named after Tupac Amaru, the Inca Indian that was sentenced to death by the Spaniards. He was originally from Brooklyn, New York. Tupac spent a lot of time moving around as he was growing up. He was the son of a Black Panther activist Afeni Shakur and Billy Garland. Tupac moved from Harlem, to Baltimore, to Oakland. The constant moving caused Tupac to fit into his new communities by joining gangs, and his lengthy rap sheet was created even before his profalic entry into music and film. He was arrested eight times before even turning twenty (MTV.com).
Angela said that when people don’t believe failure is a permanent condition, they are able to grow and overcome, which builds grit. If you get knocked down 7 times, get up 8. This saying relates to my Mom. After my Dad died of course it hit all of our family very hard, but it was hardest for my Mom. She now has to raise two children on her own, she also lost one of her best friends and someone she had known since they were children. Her growth mindset let her learn the new ways that she didn’t know. She is facing the hardships that life throws at her head on and not backing down. That is grit and that is why she is successful in life.

He may just seem like another rapper to you but if you actually listen to his lyrics you can see he’s not like any rapper out there. His name is Kanye West and he was born in Chicago Illinois. He grew up in the “ghetto” and learned to appreciate life. He didn’t learn to really, truly appreciate life until October of 2002. Driving back to his hotel late one night after a recording session, the new-coming rap/hip-hop artist was involved in a devastating, near fatal car accident. The crash left him with a broken jaw in three places and an appreciation for life. Just weeks after being released from the hospital he recorded his first major hit, “Through the Wire,” with his mouth still wired shut. He records every song like its going to be his last song and that makes every song better than the last. He’s not only a rap artist but also a producer. He has been responsible for being behind songs like Jay-Z’s Izzo, Girls, Girls, Girls, The Takeover, and 03 Bonnie and Clyde.
Throughout the years Tupac tended to participate in the arts, landing seven movie roles. While Shakur had been producing things professionally since 1987, his career hadn’t truly taken off until the early 90’s when he debuted in Digital Underground's "Same Song" from the soundtrack to the 1991 film “Nothing but Trouble.” Up until the day Tupac died, he was going head first into the game. Shakur was always working hard and doing what he loved. Biggie, on the other hand, was from the Clinton Hill section of the Brooklyn borough of New York City, New York. He was nicknamed “Big” because he was overweight from the time he was ten years old. Wallace had been rapping since his early teen years and continued his passion all throughout his life. While he was always excelled in school, he dropped out of school at the age of seventeen. Biggie started dealing drugs at the age of twelve and continued his criminal life until the end. The Notorious B.I.G. was arrested on several occasions. A few examples are that he was arrested in 1989 for weapons charges, 1990 for violation of probation, and in 1991 for dealing Crack Cocaine. On August
... hard work and perseverance helped him accomplish his goal of become a major hip-hop star. Once he first got his shot at being a hip-hop star with the release of his first album, everyone began to see the real side if Kanye. His flamboyant fashion sense and outspoken personality has shown us the real side if himself. Like him or not, his music has inspired and touched the lives of many aspiring hip-hop artists which makes him one of the most influential characters in America.
Tupac Amaru Shakur was an African-American rapper, poet, and record producer during the 1990’s. In his adolescent years, he attended the Baltimore School for the Arts where he took acting and dance classes, like ballet. He was taught radical politics by his mother, which helped him develop ideas about topics he would later use in his many works. At an early age, Tupac had seen the injustices of the real world. His mother was a former Black Panther activist who turned to substance abuse during Tupac’s childhood. Aside from that, he and his mother also moved many times while they lived together in New York City. While Tupac was in Baltimore, he discovered rap; not long after, he and his mother moved to the West Coast where he joined the rap group
...ged into many situations that probably were detrimental to his health in the long run and created enemies that are what potentially were what caused him his death. Tupac’s music is what I have always enjoyed and is why I chose to pick him for this assignment, he is not just a typical rapper in my opinion and I have enjoyed learning more about him. The biggest thing that I learned about him were the circumstances in his death, It is very similar to the Elvis conspiracy how people believe he is still alive and I believe this is because people had such an emotional connection with him that they feel they can’t let that go. People loved or hated Tupac but he changed many people’s lives regardless of that, he was a saint and a sinner but he will be remembered through his work. Tupac is a hero to me for bringing about this change and bringing awareness to these problems.
It is known that his fame is compared to Notorious B.I.G’s fame. But, the most astounding status on the album charts that Biggie at any point accomplished while alive was #13 on the main 200 album charts, and #3 on the Rap and RnB outlines. but in reality it had been able to have the politicians, adults and people who didn't even listen and enjoyed rap music allowed Tupac and all the others that he spoke for to become recognised. Tupac was able to make an impact on those who did not even listen to rap music and have biased opinions about those like Tupac.

When you hear the name Tupac Amaru Shakur (2pac) you think of a rapper, maybe a “Thug”. But Tupac just didn’t rap, he was also a poet. There is much more to his life than rapping. Tupac positively affected society with his words in his songs and by singing. He is more than just a rapper.
