The American Counseling Association or ACA has developed a code of ethics to assist professionals in identifying ethical and unethical behavior. This code of ethics is a guide that any and all counselors in American can turn to when needed. After careful review of this code some infractions may be present in this scenario. Finally a consideration for future clashes between counselor and client were highlighted. These considerations included being able to identify cases in which my values would clash with the client’s values, obtaining a more inclusive knowledge of referral sources, the benefits of staffing this case with peers and my supervisor when appropriate so that I may gain as well as share insight, and lastly obtaining a richer understanding of my personal and professional limits.
