Why can’t we have marriage equality? Many states have actively banned gay marriage, but a handful of states have allowed same-sex couples to access civil marriage rights (Williams). A total of sixteen states have allowed same-sex marriage. The sixteen states that allow it are Massachusetts; Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Washington, Maryland, Maine, Rhode Island, Delaware, Minnesota, California, New Jersey, Hawaii, and Illinois. I believe that all of the states should allow same-sex marriage, why can’t they be happy like opposite sex.

Massachusetts became the first state to permit gay marriage after the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled by a 4-3 opinion that a ban on same-sex marriage violated that state’s constitution (Williams). For the state’s government of Massachusetts they decided without allowing same-sex couples to get married that it would break the personal freedom of the individual’s rights, which is stated in the state’s constitution.

In Connecticut there was eight same-sex couples that was unable to get their marriage licenses. After they were denied marriage licenses, they had argued that it broke the state’s constitution that discriminates against the same sex. They also contended that civil unions created a separate but not equal status for gay and lesbian citizens (Williams). In Massachusetts and Connecticut it was violating the constitution of the states. In the sixteen states that legalized same-sex marriage the states government found that it is unconstitutional to deny the right to marry the same sex.

... out” they try to change it. You see a lot of gays and lesbians living one way when they are at home and then you see people living another way when they are at school. They keep that up in tell they don’t live with their families so that they don’t think about changing them or try to change the way they think. Let’s not be mean and lets just start to support each other.

Humans are females and males. “Normally” they should be attracted to each other. But let’s get one thing right no one is perfected and no one is normal. We all have different things that make us. We should be able to like who we want to we should be able to be with who we want to be with. We should not change just because we were asked to, or because they don’t like the way we think. It’s are body, our mind. No one in the world should be able to control us and tell us what to do and what not to do.
