As a JusticeCorps member, I assist litigants complete forms related to their case in family law, housing law, and other pending legal forms. The program permits me to know how to work in a stressful environment where many people want their legal matters to be solved. I experienced many litigants coming to me in tears to help them out because they do not understand the court procedures and legal documents that they have received. Since I interact with litigants in a one-on-one direct service, it makes it easier for me to explain the legal process of their cases. When I need to translate litigant's Spanish declaration to English, I am proud that I am helping them get a step closer toward finishing their case. Helping people going through divorces, paternity, restraining orders or trying to get custody of their children can be a difficult challenge. When I started the program, I only manage to assist one litigant. As I continue going to the self-help center, I was able to help more than four litigants on a one-on-one direct service, and more than 15 litigants at the front desk. I come o...
