Taking exceptional images does not just happen; every image is made up of multiple technical and creative processes combined to create the end result. Every image starts with an idea and ideas can be sparked by many things. Like many things, creating an image is a step-by-step process and I will be giving basic instructions for that process.
The following is a list of primary equipment needed as well as optional but helpful items.
.
1. Camera –This goes without saying, but here it is. You can’t take a photograph without some sort of camera. The kind of camera however isn’t as important, though some cameras perform better than others, e.g. Single Lens Reflex, or Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras (SLR, DSLR) perform exceptionally better than a generic point-and-shoot camera. There are many varieties of cameras out there; most photographers use SLR or DSLR cameras. Most cameras have what is called a viewfinder, a window that looks through the camera to the scene desired to shoot. However, when shooting with an inexpensive camera many people encounter something called parallax, this is what causes pictures to be off-center or cut people’s heads off due to the viewfinder being positioned above the lens. SLR’s solve this problem by using a mirror system that allows the photographer to see directly through the lens. SLR’s are ideal for photography as they are more versatile, with manual modes so that a photographer can set the camera with precision for certain lighting and scenes.
2. Film or Memory Card –If you are using an older camera that uses film, be sure to have the right speed of film and enough to capture the photos you want and to make room for mistakes. If you are using a digital camera, make sure to have a memory card that ...

... saved on a computer in RAW format, it can be converted into other smaller formats for the sake of uploading to the internet or just to save space.
After you have completed all these steps you can save your image, print it, or share it online with friends and contacts on photo websites such as Flickr or Instagram.
Photography is one of my favorite things to do and, in my opinion, is a very important tool in both capturing moments and creating art. Photography is also a skill that can be learned by virtually anyone that has a little creativity and drive. A good photo isn’t made simply because you followed all the steps laid out for you, a good photo comes from within. It starts in your mind and is an expression of you! Don’t worry if your picture isn’t perfectly composed or maybe the lighting is a little wrong, the most important thing is to be creative and have fun.
For many years the only way to capture an image required one to paint or draw the model or object. This was until 1814 when Joseph Nicephore Niepce a French inventor, took the first picture in history. Even though the picture was a permanent print the image known as “View from the window at Le Guas” took eight hours to expose!
A former point-and-shoot photographer can take professional quality pictures with a digital SLR (single-lens reflex) camera by learning about and experimenting with its complex operations. There are many advantages to making the transition from a point-and-shoot digital camera to a digital SLR camera. These include capturing images “more quickly, more flexibly, and with more creativity” (Busch, Digital 9). Furthermore, taking photos with a digital SLR camera reduces the amount of time that otherwise would be spent editing with photo-editing software to improve the quality of the photos.
My first photo turned out well, I kept the frame full without being overly busy. I also included the color version of that same photograph because I found that each photograph had a very different feel to them. Adding the black and white to the photo made it much more dramatic looking.
In conclusion, it becomes clear that photography and creative writing are indeed very closely related. Whether it is on the cover or in between the pages of a book, or integrated on a website, or being used to create awareness, or even just a writing prompt on a stormy Sunday afternoon, photography is an integral part of creative writing now and in the future.
The introduction of portable cameras has made it feasible for anyone with basic knowledge of how to use a camera to now go out and record what they see. However, what one chooses to photograph is still a reflection on them as well as well as the scenes they witness.
As you can see, there is a big world waiting for you to capture and mold its image. Whether you just want to remember that sunset on your honeymoon, your little one’s first steps or even if you click your shutter at everything you pass… the right equipment certainly helps. Whatever equipment you use, with good lighting and attention to such details as film type and speed, distance from subject, rule of thirds, and an eye for what you want, you can make beautiful photos that you and yours will cherish for generations to come.
Now now, I know that it might not seem like an important topic to ponder over, but with the easy access to a camera on the iPhone, I thought it would be great to share some tips and tricks on the iPhone camera since not all of us own a professional camera or even have the time to head over to Martin Hall to check one out. I would have to say, the iPhone camera is one of the best invention since sliced bread. HAHA. Ever since the great invention of the iPhone camera, iPhonegraphy (iPhone-photography) is now commonly used to take photographs compared to professional cameras and even a compact digital camera.
The idea for photographing came around in 1814 when Joseph Niépce wanted an image of his son before he left for war. He succeeded in making the first camera in 1827, but the camera needed at least eight hours to produce one picture. Parisian Louis Daguerre invented the next kind of camera in 1839, who worked with Niépce for four years. His camera only needed fifteen to thirty minutes to produce a picture. Both Niécpe’s and Daguerre’s cameras made pictues on metal plates. In the same year Daguerre made his camera, an Englishman by the name of William Henry Fox Talbot made the first camera that photographed pictures on paper. The camera printed a reverse picture onto a negative and chemicals were needed to produce the photo up right. In 1861, color film came along and pictures were produced with color instead of being just black and white. James Clerk Maxwell is credited with coming up with color film, after he took the ...
Every picture taken is unique and is has its own characteristics given to it by its taker. Much like every individual person, each photo has a story and an attitude. All these distinctive qualities are given to the picture by the photographer with a particular purpose. To set up the desired image, there must be proper steps taken in order to insure perfection. The first...
Photography has an amazing process, no matter if you are using a film camera, or a digital camera. The principle of the camera is that light passes through a small hole, projects an image from the brighter side of the opening to a surface on the dimmer side. The process of making photos, or durable images, is by recording light. Or, it can be created by making images from other electromagnetic radiations. Photography has two ways of capturing photos. It can be made chemically, with a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. Although it could be done electronically by the use of an image sensor. The lens is used to focus the light that is reflected from objects into a real image on a light-sensitive surface inside a camera, during a timed exposure...
In Sontag’s On Photography, she claims photography limits our understanding of the world. Though Sontag acknowledges “photographs fill in blanks in our mental pictures”, she believes “the camera’s rendering of reality must always hide more than it discloses.” She argues photographs offer merely “a semblance of knowledge” on the real world.
Camera History. The first camera like devices can be seen as far back as Ancient Greece and China. This piece of early technology was called the Obscura, the invention of this was an important part in developing cameras and photography. A camera Obscura is a dark closed space that is shaped like a box with a hole on the other side of it. The light that comes through the tiny hole projects an image that meets the wall of the box. The image was then drawn by an artist; however, the image was projected upside down.
In almost all areas, photography is used. From 1827-2014, it is still present and still being enhanced. From film photographs to digital photographs, camera companies today keep improving their cameras. They keep enhancing their cameras to produce better quality and resolution for photographs. Even non-professional photographers today buy and use their own camera to take their own photographs. Even cellphones today have their own built-in cameras.
Photography is relatively simple in comparison to painting, which is a much more complex task. With photography, the composition is already completely arranged, but with a painting the objective is much more open to interpretation by the artist. The artist has the ability to capture much more emotion, understanding, and significance in an event and apply this fiery drive to his paintbrush when creating his own masterpiece.
Digital camera is a very important tool nowadays. People would always want to save their memories in the shape of pictures that will last forever. People were amazed when the first ever camera introduced back in hundreds of years ago. At that time camera consisted of large and impractical components and it was very hard to use. In fact, it even took quite some time to develop the pictures on the paper. But now there are some products of digital camera that are very easy to use and with its pocket-sized feature, one can carry it everywhere. There are several advantages of using digital camera: very easy to use, easy to carry on, instant feedback; which means one can immediately review the captured pictures and erase any pictures that they don’t like. One real advantage of digital camera is that one can share the pictures with other people easily thanks to the high speed internet connection. Before digital camera one has to print pictures, paying for postage, and waiting for the pictures to be delivered. Gone were that days since it is possible now to share the pictures online within minutes.
