Question #1 Diego Rivera’s Mural “Pan American Unity” advocates people of all colors, shapes and forms to come together. Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln are clustered among four other men. Furthermore, three unconfirmed documents are seen The Declaration of Independence, The Gettysburg Address, and possibly The Preamble held by a Frenchman. It seems as these men have assembled to discuss the creation of a government. However, Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s “The Allegory of Good and Bad Government” has divided an established government. On the western wall, a tyrant is seated in his throne and an animal props up his feet. Next to that, Lady Justice is juggling scales, evidently, evil on her right while good on the left. Moreover, Lorenzetti personifies the “Commune of Siena” poised on his throne while the common folk gather in peaceful concert. Consequently, both artists expressed deep concerns of government.
