Digital / technological / new media and structural changes are affecting the broadcasting landscape
It is a huge change in terms of media in about whole world. The rapid change is increasingly available through Internet and many wireless devices. People are now spending more time on the Internet than sitting in front of Television set. New media is becoming a big challenge in front of the broadcasting landscape.
New Media is bringing up all competition and opportunities in whole world. It has changed the way of how people interact, how all communities are grouped, how all good / bad ideas are shared and of course communication too. Marketing and Advertising is much easier because of the internet, TV and broadcast is becoming obsolete as youth is empowered by the power of Internet and New media. Brands are concentrating more towards the power of technology and developing strategies to become the master of this competitive world. This is changing the new media culture from top to down. We have already seen so many changes in todays world, all these websites like Vimeo, Youtube and many more have already created a heavy traffic on internet.
Technology has opened all the doors for the young generation to create, share, download, and get new vision. Social media is also contributing a lot in this change. People have started realizing that so much involvement of technology is leading them towards aggressive individualism, which is gonna be a big problem in future.
With all the old forms of media, viewers were forced to wait for the missed episodes of any TV series or even for news and movies, and now with all technologies they can stream / download any missed thing and watch. The media content and way they were years ago, is all c...

...nnection are able to access any of the thousands of television channels in the world that happens to stream. Most of the television networks and film distributors have already started streaming high definition broadcasts into the internet. Most of the Information of text, video and audio formats are available right away to the majority of the world’s population.
According to me, the Future of Digital / technological / new media and structural changes is unpredictable but there will be more competition than the present and past. This industry is really growing very fast so I do not even think that there will be any downfall in this industry, it will keep developing the new media and will keep entertaining the viewers / consumers. I hope that these changes will bring new dimensions to the industry with more opportunities for creators to show the real talent in them.

Throughout the years, media has advanced along with technology. They now range in sizes, small to large, and weight, heavy and light. The means of communication we have used evolved from newspapers to televisions, social media, and the list goes on. They aid people in keeping us connected and keeping them informed of new products and of the environment. Media is an important part of the lives of neighbors, friends, family members, and the rest of the world. It is how they all stay connected. significant why it matters Why: mold the children molds the world. Affects how they act, feel, act towards others, and how they react to different events in their lives.
“American Media History is the story of a nation. It is the story of events in the long battle to disseminate information, entertainment, and opinion in society. It is the story of the men and women whose inventions, ideas, and struggles helped shape the nation and its media system.”(Fellow) The evolution of media has influenced countless societal and cultural changes leading to the present day. But it didn’t get this far over night. It is estimated to have begun more than 30,000 years ago through the process of cave painting. (Crewe) Following cave painting, came the invention of books being printed on blocks “The Diamond Sutra”, the Gutenberg printing press, newspapers in 1640, photographs, the radio in 1894, television, and recently computers; which lead all the way to modern day social media. Through the hard work of multiple inventors the media was able to reach where it is today. It has changed the way people communicate with each other, mostly for the better.“ The way people experience the meaning, how they perceive the world and communicate with each other, and how they distinguish the past and identify the future.” (Gitelman) Or as we know it as: a new way of communicating information from person to person.
For years, the population has been exposed to different forms of media. Newspapers, magazines, television, films, radio, and more recently the Internet are ways of promoting ideas, spreading news, and advertising products.
...ent times, the television mediums has been slowly transitioning to digital format. Digital television has the advantages of high definition resolution and an electronic television guide. Despite these evolutions of the medium of television I don't consider it new, I see the television mediums as new features a result of inevitable technological advances. The evolution of the internet can similarly observed in this way. Packet-switching technology gave way to the ability to efficiently transfer files over the internet, this ability gave way to the dawn of the world wide web and faster internet transfer speeds lead to bigger and bigger files being transferred over the internet. From this it can be seen that the internet is not a new medium, it contains features which make it seem new. There are certain implications that are observed when the internet is seen as new.
As stated by Stein Sanburn article The New Greatest Generation, “ The Internet has democratized opportunity for many young people, giving them access and information that once belonged mostly to the wealthy.” I agree with Stein Sanburn statement. The Internet has provided many millennials find a new way of creating their own future. Instead of just going and looking for normal job. Many millennials are using social media websites like YouTube to become stable in their lives.
Streaming video content over the internet continues to grow in popularity with consumers for a variety of reasons, including the widespread availability of high speed internet, attractive video content, easy to use video streaming devices and the rising cost of cable television service. Some consumers use streaming video to enhance or supplement the typical offerings available from their local cable provider. Others take a more extreme approach and use streaming video as a means to eliminate the need for a cable television subscription altogether. Presently consumers cancelling their cable TV subscriptions are still considered a minority of all subscribers; nevertheless their steadily increasing numbers have earned the moniker of “cord cutters.” Those looking to ditch cable TV can also find a growing number of online resources that will ease their transition to cheaper online television viewing.
In today 's world the media has enormous power. Media industries are operating in a market increasingly globalized and more monopolistic. In addition, the media come daily in our homes, deeply affecting our way of seeing the world. Adults and children and youth spend many hours a day watching television, transforming this activity into a more in all daily activities. Even more powerful is the ongoing revolution such as the development that has had and continues to have a means of communication such as the Internet.

...ely available and accessible from everywhere. New media has introduced innovative platforms and ways to consume media products, they have been embedded into our social context that we are unaware of the different ways we are constantly relying on technology. This leads us to call for more contemporary studies towards new media audiences for a more in-depth analysis and how they have merged the different contexts of media consumption.
Social media and the internet has become apart of the culture of this generation. Many people turn to social media for various reasons such as news, networking, games, and other time wasting activities. Social media and the internet has affected the development of people of our generation by contributing to less social interactions, strengthening communication skills, and online harassment.
Electronic media is all around. Society absorbs media like sponges and uses it like it is literally a part of us; sometimes it would appear as if we are addicted to using it. Cellphones, televisions, online education etc. has an influence so powerful in our lives that we don’t even recognize its presence at times. Media is one of the variants in molding culture. Society can use this media to its advantage if we pay closer attention to its impact on us. There are diversified Pros and Cons to Electronic Media. The evolution of media has transformed the way we interpret the world around us. It gives us a new perspective by allowing us to interact with one another through the Internet. Media has become much more personal and diverse as user-generated content becomes more prominent in our lives. We are exposed to assorted types of viewpoints that shape our understanding and knowledge of the social world. Moreover, change in technology has brought advancement to transportation methods, which makes it very easy and fast to go long distances than before. It has also brought change in communication, with the development of the mobile phones, where the communication is now more efficient. Technology has also brought changes in education where students can do online courses, take exams, quizzes, do assignments and even discuss with the classmates the related topic of each week as if you were in the actual classroom. The changes of technology play a big part in the media and how it is used. The technological changes made throughout these time periods have made communication and the media widely spread.
Newspapers have been around since the early 18th century, gaining prominence after 1790 during the colonial era. Magazines followed right behind newspapers and gained popularity as well, television followed last, booming with popularity in the 1960’s. Television is still the most often used source for news and other information such as the weather. But new forms of mass media are on the rise, such as channels, blogs and podcasts, which have been around since the early 2000’s but are now picking up momentum and gaining prominence as a news source. There are similarities as well as differences between the old media and the new media, and while the new media is more modern and accessible it does not have to push old media out of the picture, the two can be combined for the benefit of the consumers and
