The consequences of cloning these vital organs, cells, and tissues would be that many things could go wrong during the cloning process, especially due to the fact that the technology isn’t completely developed properly yet. Because the patients are already ill, they are more likely to suffer from any type of glitch in the process. Therefore, the main consequence is that if something were to go wrong, their chances of not living would be increased, also. Despite this possibility, researchers and scientists are continuing their studies by making huge efforts towards the cloning of humans and cells. They are doing so in order to take strides towards making what they believe would be a big difference in medicine for the present.
Still in its youth, genetic therapy has made progress, however it still needs much more advancements. When looking at the surface, nearly every clinical test that has been conducted has resulted in failure. There are many reasons for this, including media, investors, and rush testing. Biotechnology is a serious field of science, therefore its studying and research should not be rushed, valuable information could be surpassed. However, reality sheds another light and the testing is rushed, failure has resulted.
In todays society we experience a lot of controversial topics and hot button issues. New breakthroughs in science and technology can leave people upset and not ready for change. One of the most prevalent examples of a controversial science is genetic engineering. The modification of genes is becoming a popular application in science, but some people aren’t ready. Genetic engineering will play a big part in the scientific world in the next few years.
Many diseases in the world today that don't have cures, however the people inflicted with the diseases desperately need cures. Many radical scientific experiments have been used in the past to try and help cure these diseases, but it is very hard for scientists to find cures without trying new kinds of experimentation. Science is an area that's ideas are often considered to be unethical. One of the most controversial experiments is stem cell research. The reason stem cell research is so controversial is because it is said that research plays with human life which many consider unethical.
The advancement of science and technology today has brought up some very interesting and controversial issues. Nowadays, it seems that many scientists are on a mission to create the perfect human being, but in the process are breaking a lot of ethical boundaries. Do scientists know when enough is simply enough?, that is the real question. Through the use of such scientific and technological advancements, its amazing at just what scientists can do with the information. Often times they aren't thinking in terms of the world but in terms of them selves.
This growth in cell research is binding scientists in a race to establish their findings so they could be the first in the finish line. This pressure to be renowned has driven scientists to attempt to control the very natural process of life. Our world is plagued by disease, an increase in population and poverty with limited resources to satisfy the basic needs of mankind, so cloning is often regarded as the solution. Cloning for reproduction and therapy has improved drastically displaying a lot of potential uses but is vastly outweighed with larger risks. The thought of cloning often terrifies people because they believe there will be copies of themselves rampaging around the world.
Reproductive and Therapeutic Cloning New areas of science often raise questions about safety. Reflecting back on the past medical technologies invented, people have always opposed it but often benefit from it later on in life. The use of in-vitro fertilization, for instance, was once a controversial issue. Some people worried that society could discriminate against humans produced as a result of IVF and humans could spread diseases. Furthermore, its usefulness cannot be predicted because it is just a research tool, and so on.
Through stem cell research, a multitude of cures have been brought upon the world and these diseases that were uncontrollable in the past, can now be regulated and the ones suffering from now have a chance at living a better life. Sadly, there are many people who believe that stem cell research altogether is not a good thing for society and requires an instant halt on any further funding. With all the possibilities that stem cell possess regarding the improving health of the population, doing away with stem cell research promises to be unrealistic and impractical, not only because society currently beginning relies heavily on it for cures, but also because without it, no cures would exist for some diseases (“Stem Cell Reasearch”) Embryonic stem cells are the most widely used, yet most controversial stem cell in the world. “Human embryonic stem cells are the primitive cells found in the inner part of the blastocyst stage of embryonic development” (Bush). Obtaining the cells results in the main conflict that the world has about using embryonic stem cells.
This would bring about a lot of confusion and emotional damage for the individual. There is a great margin of error in the new technology of cloning. Because we are still developing these scientific procedures, there is a lot of room for mistakes. This means that in the process of experimenting, clones with great genetic abnormalities could be created. What would happen to these degenerate individuals?
Well its not as easy as it seems. You have to make it so that the body of the recipient does not reject the new and foreign organ. Besides that you have to worry about diseases, it not working properly and over all, the recipient dying. It is a really great idea and scientists are doing research to make it possible, but as of right now it’s just not safe enough. Xenotransplantation if ever pronounced safe as a working practice would be an unbelievably huge step in our medical science.
