For several years the smoking of marijuana has been a major issue in every country. The ideas that marijuana should be considered as a medication is fairly recent addition to the debate. There is no question that if marijuana were any other drug, decisions about its medicinal use would be up to doctors and patients. Instead, today, the politics of the drug war intervene. Patients and doctors who get involve with medicinal marijuana face potentially grave risks, and the government seems committed to maximizing the fear and uncertainty faced by those who might benefit using it. Among the arguments, proponents of medical marijuana have presented a stronger argument for legalization through their use of research and evidence. It is a clever decision to legalized marijuana, however, because marijuana is beneficial to people and it should be available to those who need it. In addition, legalization of marijuana for medical purposes would help illnesses in today’s generation and legalizing it will contribute into medical purposes.
According to an article from Norml organization, “Marijuana is the third most popular recreational drug in America (behind only alcohol and tobacco), and has been used by nearly 100 million Americans. According to government surveys, some 25 million Americans have smoked marijuana in the past year, and more than 14 million do so regularly despite harsh laws against its use.” (Norml.org). In addition, Devin Dwyer, a writer from yahoo news claimed that, Marijuana is a drug that is derived from the dried and cut leaves of the hemp plant known as “cannabis sativa.” He also stated that marijuana has a variety of street names such as grass, Mary Jane, pot, weed, and herb. ...well this remedy meets today’s standard of efficiency and safety. People understand better more than the previous generations about medical risks. The society generally expects its licensed medications to be safe, reliable, and of proven efficacy; contaminants and inconsistent ingredients in our health treatments are not tolerated. They refers not only to prescription and over the counter drugs, but also to vitamin supplements and herbal remedies purchased at the grocery store. An article from DrugPolicy claims that, marijuana contains several medical values whether it’s based on its use, safety, and methods (Leinor). The article also stated that, marijuana should be moved to Schedule II drug. That means that marijuana is a useful drug that can be prescribed by a doctor. If marijuana can bring any amount of relief to the sick or dying, then it should be available.
