Multiple Sclerosis
My aunt has had Multiple Sclerosis for about 11 years now. She started showing symptoms when she was 27. I remember the day that I walked into my parent’s room to find my mom on the phone crying. I stayed to listen to the conversation and when she was off the phone she told me what was going on. All I could do at that point was remember all of the times we went on bike rides and had a lot of fun. It was a really bad feeling knowing that we would never have the chance to do any of that again. It was really hard for my uncle to handle and I am sure it still is, but when ever I go over they’re house everyone is cheerful and easy to talk to. Whenever I get the chance I talk to my aunt and she is still very intelligent and fun to hold a conversation with. So if you ever see a person with a disease, do not be afraid to talk to them for they are very wise.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that randomly attacks the central nervous system. Specific symptoms of the disease can not be predicted. The symptoms may range from tingling and numbness to paralysis and blindness. MS is a devastating disease because people live with its unpredictable physical and emotional effects for the rest of their lives. My aunt has to be feed, bathed; she cannot do anything for herself. MS is a well-known disease, but poorly understood. In the United States there are about 200 new cases diagnosed each week. MS is a common disease and not always caused by genetics. Therefore, I feel we all need to have a better understanding of this disease that has no cure yet. My aunt has been in my prayers and many other peoples for a long time. I just want to see her get rid of the nasty disease. I hope to make MS more understanding in my paper. In my paper I will explain what MS is, who gets MS, what MS has to do with the metabolism, what some of the symptoms of MS are, and some treatments for MS.

In contrast, Soyster writes humorously of a particular incident he had with MS and artfully weaves his ideas about the disease in with his story. In both instances, the authors share the purpose of narrating their encounter with MS to the world to raise awareness.
Zora Neale Hurston was a very prestigious and effective writer who wrote a controversial novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God. Janie whom is the dynamic character, faces many hardships throughout her life. Janie’s Nanny always told Janie who she should be with. Janie was never truly contented because she felt she was being constricted from her wants and dreams. Janie’s first two marriages were a failure. Throughout the novel, Janie mentions that her dreams have been killed. Janie is saying that men that have been involved and a part of her life have mistreated and underappreciated her doings. The death of her dreams factor Janie’s perception on men and her feelings of the future. Logan and Jody were the men who gave her such a negative attitude towards marriage. Once Tea Cake came along, Janie realized that there are men out there that will appreciate her for who she is. Janie throughout the novel, comes into contact with many obstacles that alter her perspective on men and life overall.

The novel, Their Eyes Were Watching, God by Zora Neale Hurston, tells a story of a woman, Janie Crawford’s quest to find her true identity that takes her on a journey and back in which she finally comes to learn who she is. These lessons of love and life that Janie comes to attain about herself are endowed from the relationships she has with Logan Killicks, Joe Starks, and Tea Cake.
Upon doing some research, I found that a pediatrician's main duty, and the type of the work done in the career. According to Gaither (2016), the author examines who a pediatrician is and what this chosen career does in health care. According to Gaither (2016), a pediatrician’s main duty is to take care and to examine children to make sure they are in a healthy condition and are developing correctly. It also mentions that picking a pediatrician is a very important choice for the future and well being of your child. However, to goes on to mention that pediatricians are very important to have because they have extensive knowledge of a child’s health, and a pediatrician can spot illnesses quickly and diagnose them effectively. Although more than ten years can pass prior to the moment one first calls oneself a pediatrician, the hard work and dedication pays off when one saves the first life a helpless child. Throughout the long process of applying for school after school, obtaining scholarship after scholarship, and proving one’s medical skill with each and every exam, one must feel true bliss when grasping the newly received medical license in one’s hands. A career in pediatrics will allow one to save the lives of young people who haven’t yet truly lived.

This ultimately causes damage to the nerve cells and without the insulation the myelin sheath provides, nerve communication is disrupted. Although pediatricians can face a lot of difficulties in their career, there are also times where they are extremely appreciated for the acts that they perform in caring for others. There are many requirements to becoming a pediatrician, proper schooling, internships and a degree is what you will need in order to be successful in this career. This occupation includes some good and also some bad factors that pediatricians face while they work in this field. Although pediatricians deal with many challenges, there are also many skill oriented tasks a pediatrician can be asked to complete; performing on children with little experience is a common task that are asked of pediatricians. Being a pediatrician can be scary at times, including the fact that you may have many young children that face a life threatening situation and the care for the child depends on the pediatricians knowledge and skill set. Many people should be a pediatrician for many reasons. Because of the many opportunities, one should feel happy in this occupation.

Destroyed myelin prevents messages from communicating and sending properly from the brain, through the spinal cord, to internal body parts. In the United States, more than 350,000 people are diagnosed with this disease. Anyone can get this disease, but it is more common among Caucasian women. MS symptoms begin between the ages 20-40 and are caused by nerve lesions being present in multiple areas of the Central Nervous System, symptoms differ on the lesion’s location.

Multiple sclerosis is a disease in which the immune system malfunctions and begins to attack the myelin sheath. The myelin sheath is an insulating cover around the nerves. Myelin provides the nervous system with communication signals. Once the myelin starts to deteriorate, the signals providing specific voluntary movements become distorted. After the self-involuntary damage, scarring begins to form thus concluding the term, sclerosis.

(1,7) The covering of the nerve with myelin is very important so that the nerve can transmit signals rapidly and efficiently. Demylelination enables the nerve to carry impulses properly by either blocking or slowing transmission and this is why the various symptoms of MS occur. (1)
Pediatricians are not just doctors that one sees for injury or sickness but someone that guides a person in life from their infancy to their adulthood. Pediatricians are physicians who diagnose, treat, and help prevent children's diseases and injuries. They are essential in raising the young to be healthy and in helping them make the right decisions about their bodies. The care that is given by a pediatrician is indispensable to the lives of children and helps lighten the burden on parents. Although being a pediatrician requires long hours and a load of mental pressure and stress, it is a fulfilling career with the opportunity to impact the world in a positive way.
Pediatrician need lots of schooling, training, and practice before they get out there on their own. Just think about it would you want someone working on your kids with no practice or training? Classes that they need are biology, chemistry, physics, calculus, pre med, medicine, cardiology, surgery, orthopedics, and pediatric. The training needed is things such as three - years residency and any other training that will help them. Another thing they have to have to be a pediatrician is they have to have good personal qualities such as communication skills, critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, and lots of patience. They need practice on these skills almost as much as they do to get the career they are wanting.
Many people in this world want to make a difference in life. However, most people do not want to put in all the effort that it takes to do so. The job of a pediatrician is life-changing to many. Unfortunately, it takes drive and effort that many people do not have, to become a pediatrician. A pediatrician’s job is a highly-skilled and interesting job because he or she has the privilege to deal with and help as many children as possible.
Pediatricians specifically strive to improve the health of babies, children, teens, and even young adults; basically anybody within the ages of 0 to 21 years old. They care for their health and are in charge of making a diagnosis; treating various things such as infections, injuries, and any other dysfunctions. Becoming a Pediatrician is worth the years of schooling and long work hours because children’s health and lives will be impacted in a positive way and also due to unique patient encounters that will resonate within you. Sometimes money and stress simply cannot replace meaningful moments such as those that can be experienced while working as a pediatrician.
