Every country has a different way to control, to manage, and to defend itself from other countries. In order to defend or protect the country, since being in a very strategically important region, Turkey has to have a military. Turkey has a mandatory military service which is the price that a citizen pays for the benefits that society affords him. However, mandatory military service is not the only option for Turkey. By having volunteers to join in the army only, Turkey can own stronger and more professional army. The volunteered soldiers will have greater motivation and will be more skilled because of serving the army for a long time. Many Turkish young men die in the armed conflicts every year because of receiving a small amount of training in mandatory military service. Thus, military service should not be mandatory in Turkey.
Those who do not favor this proposal might argue that the military service is a very practical course through which people can learn a wide range of skills physically and mentally. Parents at home cannot offer their children all the principles that are needed for them to face the tough life bravely, wisely and steadily. On the other hand, specialists in the military service are able to develop strategies to teach these particular principles through various programs. This approach would seem to be somewhat inadequate and serious doubts can be raised against this. The army requires individuals to fit into its pattern, or otherwise draftees become an object of ridicule among the others. For instance, many sensitive young men are forced to be obedient. In addition to that, those who are not submissive to the strict rules are treated in a very brutal way.

...rorists are likely to be more experienced than our mandatory military service soldiers since conscripted soldiers receive relatively short time training. PKK has killed lots of Turkish young men due to this fact. Since the terrorists are involved in violence almost their whole lives, a well-trained all-volunteer force would be a perfect match against them.
In conclusion, considering the points mentioned above it is obvious that conscription is not the right option in Turkey. With an all-volunteer force Turkey will have a more developed economy, a stronger army and less number of losses in armed combats such as terrorism. Another thing is that, motivation is a key factor in the success of a military. One can easily notice that motivation is highest among volunteered people. Thus, Turkey should replace the mandatory military service with an all-volunteer force.
