I wanted to begin by telling a little about myself and my family. I was born on April 5, 2000 in Knoxville, TN at ParkWest Hospital. After about a year, my family moved to Houston, TX where I spent the next three years, moving back to Halls in 2004. I attended Adrian Burnette Elementary School. Currently, I split my time between my mother’s house in Halls, and my father and stepmother’s house in northwest Knoxville. I have two brothers. Austin, born in 2002, is currently a student in sixth grade at Halls Middle School. My newest brother, Easton, was born in 2012 here in Knoxville. I unfortunately only get to see him part-time as he lives with my father and stepmother. I am an avid hockey fan and started playing ice hockey at age 4. Hockey has provided me with some of my favorite memories, such as teaching a 4 year old girl how to skate and winning the Southern Youth Travel Hockey League Championship. Being kind and generous are traits that I have always tried to exhibit. I would be honored to be selected as the Halls Middle School Student of the Year. I feel that my activities both in and out of the classroom would make me an excellent choice. Playing ice hockey and being active in my church are my main activities outside of school. I play for the Knoxville Jr. Ice Bears as a defenseman, and it has afforded me the opportunity to travel all over the eastern United States. We have played teams from as far away as Pensacola, FL, Pittsburgh, PA and Syracuse, NY. We play as many as 60 games between September and March, which really does not leave much time for anything else. When I am not playing hockey, I enjoy helping to coach the younger players. I have coached players as young as 4 and as old as 11. “Try Hockey ... ... middle of paper ... ...k hard at whatever career or life path that I may take. I feel that I am different than other students, in that I have a total passion to succeed whether in school, in life, or in sport. I believe that I should be chosen as Student of the Year, because as a hard working student, I have committed myself to persistently working hard academically, improving the quality of life in my community through volunteer work and excelling in my chosen sport. I know that education is a key to success, and I try to blend my desire for education with my passion for helping others. I feel that I have been an outstanding ambassador, not only for Halls Middle School, but for the city of Knoxville, with pride, humility, sportsmanship and character. I want to thank each of you for reviewing my essay, and for the nomination. I sincerely hope that you will honor me with this awar
I wish to take the time to give thanks for this impeccable opportunity in applying for the highly sought after National Honor Society. I have been looking forward to embarking on this journey since I heard about this organization freshman year. I am truly elated to be one of the many students that qualifies, as I know the standards of excellence and character that must be exemplified and met.
National Junior Honor Society as a nation premier organization started to recognize outstanding middle-level students. NJHS is a way to honor students who have demonstrated an extraordinary amount of excellence in the areas of the five pillars which are, scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. This organization that was started in 1929 is a great opportunity for me to show my family and teachers how hard I work to get this far. I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary student who are being considered for this program. This organization the so many great things in society, and knowing that I could potentially be a part of it and play a part in futuring the impression that the organization has already made. I am a determined student, and will do anything to do my absolute best even when something hard is thrown my way. I have always hoped to be a part of something big like National Junior Honor Society, and I hope that this will be my chance to be a part of something big. In my essay I have provided several reasons why you should consider me being on National Junior Honors Society.
Canadians are very proud to be a multicultural nation. In 2017, Canada will be turning one hundred and fifty years old and to show your appreciation we are asking all recent immigrants and citizens of Canada to read The Last Crossing by Guy Vanderhaeghe. Fort Whoop-Up border was located between Saskatchewan and Montana which evolves into the cities we see today. Learning historical information about Canada is important to note. In 1871 when Canada was becoming it’s own identity new settlers from European saw Canada as the New World. What was up North? And what type of people traveled on this frontier Western landscape that we now know as Canada? The Western highlights cultural differences, struggles between Indian peoples, and European encounters with Aboriginal people is well described throughout The Last Crossing plot.
I have a very active lifestyle resulting in a wide variety of interests outside of the classroom. I have always had a deep life-long passion for sports. I represented my high schools varsity volleyball and basketball teams as well as partaking in an adult slow-pitch softball league throughout high school and into college. Other sports and activities I enjoy include Tae-kwon-do, soccer, fast-pitch softball, tennis, callisthenic and weighted workouts, running, hiking and biking.
Being nominated to be an active member in the National Honor Society is an accomplishment in itself. It shows that I am striving, and continuing to show my strengths on a daily basis. I have achieved the goal to maintain my grades while also being very active within our community. I have also strove to be the best possible person I can be, and that truly shows through my love of the game: basketball. I have been a member of the basketball team for three years. This team has taught me a lot about unity. I try to bring what I learn on the court to my everyday lifestyle. It has taught me how to work well with others, and solve conflicts when necessary. Being on the team has also shown me that you can’t go through life alone. I always try to be
When thinking of my activities, the first thing that comes to mind is lacrosse. Lacrosse has been a huge part of my life since the moment I picked up a stick. Lacrosse caught my attention because it was a challenge to get better daily. Throughout my whole life, lacrosse was my main passion and made me strive to get better. My freshman year of high school, I was the only freshman named to the varsity roster. The following year, the leaders of the team all graduated, so I decided it was my turn to establish myself as a leader on the team. Junior year, I was named team captain, and lead the team back into the WPIAL playoffs for the first time since my freshman year. That season, I was the team leader in both goals and assists. Also, I received
As a student at Ridgeway Middle School, I understand that my academic performance and achievement are the results of my hard work and dedication, which led to the opportunity of me becoming a leader and member of the National Junior Honor Society. By obtaining a GPA of 3.6 and higher, I strongly believe that I have met expectations and requirements to honorably become a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Additionally, I have participated in many competitions, let alone studying and school commitment.
After high school and two years of junior hockey, I began attending and playing hockey at St. Norbert College which gave me the opportunity to accomplish my goal. I continue to pursue my passion for hockey, but I have also begun the transition into the next stage of my life. Drawing on the life skills I had learned during my time away from home, along with the teamwork skills that I had developed throughout a lifetime of hockey, I felt well-prepared for this stage of my life at college. These skills enable me to balance a full course load each semester, while playing a sport from O...
Being nominated for National Junior Honor Society is a highly prestigious honor, and I am very grateful to be a candidate. To be a member of this prestigious organization means so much to me just to be invited to be one of its members. Leadership is a great skill to have. So, by being a member of this group I would be showing leadership. I am also a hard worker and a great role model who always helps others. I am confident in my leadership qualities and want to help the community. I plan to demonstrate leadership, create enthusiasm, and develop character for academic excellence while participating in NJHS. Whenever I set a goal, I am certain to achieve it. With my outstanding personality and traits, I plan to be useful to NJHS and my school.
In the end, even though being remarkable in each of the four attributes valued by the National Honor Society is erratic and outside the capacity of many individual students, I truly believe that as a whole I have achieved many aspects of each of the attributes and should be strongly considered to be inducted into the prestigious organization. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society would not only be an honor, but also give me confidence in my achievements and my future. I sincerely hope that we share similar opinions about my qualifications and strong development as a complete person in which I can get inducted into the National Honor Society at Westerville Central.
The National Honors Society should accept my application for what I can bring to the organization and pass on to other members. Over my years at Springbrook, I learned a few things here and there about how to excel and be the epitomic poster boy for high school; like those who have given this knowledge to me, I wish to spread to others to continue the long running tradition.
I have throughout my whole life been playing sports. I still play basketball competitively and now it’s at the university level. Basketball though was not my first love when it came to playing sports. It has though become my true focus since junior high school. Coming from Canada everybody plays hockey. Its almost as if as soon as you learn to walk you learn how to skate. Whether it is at the recreation centre or at the shinny rink around the corner everyone plays. Eventually I abandoned hockey to play basketball which I have done so for the last twelve years of my life and hopefully a few more years into the future.
I have been involved in many activities throughout high school that have shaped me into the person I am today. These activities have exposed me to an immense group of different and diverse people. I’ve played hockey since age three, it is more than just a game. It is not only about playing hockey, it is about learning life skills that I will carry with me throughout the rest of my life. I have learned how to work as a team member no matter if things are going well or if they are not. You also build bonds between teammates throughout the years and make memories that will never be forgotten. A very big importance of the game of hockey is being able to represent my home city of White Bear Lake. Nothing is better than going out to represent our city in front of an arena
Class of 2012, as we sit here this evening, I would like you to take a look at the classmates sitting around you. Many students have given countless hours of time, energy, and passion to worthy cuases that they have been a part of throughout high school. However, those aren't the only students deserving of recognition this evening. We have students here tonight, who have taken a stand for what they believe in, not even hesitating to compromise their reputations.
Valedictorian Speech Good evening fellow graduates, teachers, family members, friends, and distinguished guests. It is a tremendous honor to be the valedictorian of our graduating class. My job is to somehow be the voice of the entire graduating class, and take five minutes to say a few words on behalf of all 539 of us. Like most valedictorians, writing this speech was not an easy task for me. Not because I did not have anything to say, but because I was overwhelmed by how much I wanted to share with you all on this day. Tonight, we have one common purpose, to celebrate. We are here to congratulate, to look towards what the future holds for us, to wish each other well, and to, most importantly look back on our time spent here. So, I would like to start by saying 'well done' to my fellow graduates, who have all worked hard during the past several years to reach this milestone. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the graduating class for selecting me to speak here tonight. Ever since the news broke, many people, some who've I've never really met before, have come up to me and have wished me well. Perhaps this speech would be incomplete if I don’t say something to the teachers. On the behalf of my entire class, I would like to thank all my teachers: thank you. Thank you for teaching us, for leading us, for building us up as adults. I know that we have not given back to you the respect you deserve. I know that we have not told you how much we appreciate you taking time out of your schedules to help us. And I know that we have not said thank you for giving us a wonderful education. So, I hope that as I say thanks, you can forget our shortcomings and remember us for who we are and not from the mistakes we have made. ...
