“It comes right here, 3 ½ revolution, triple axel, double toe loop… beautifully landed,” a voice in the background exclaims as an elegant skater gracefully lands her jump on the ice. That background voice has been heard by thousands, but many don’t know who it belongs to. It belongs to a petite male, who had awed a great number of people with his vigorous jumps on the Olympic ice skating rink. That voice belongs to Scott Hamilton, who grew up being made fun of, who overcame a number of health problems, who took the challenges life struck him with, for granted. Scott Hamilton is not only considered one of the best figure skaters of all time, but he is also a great role model, because despite the fact that he had a tough childhood, nonstop Olympic practice to deal with, and then later a cancer and brain tumor diagnosis; he always kept a good attitude and determination.

Characters in different works of literature are placed in situations that bring out their true nature. Sometimes, being thrown into these scenarios, reveals a character's flaws. For centuries man has been considered to be the dominate species. Writings throughout history adumbrate that women are habitually invariably subordinate. Throughout the nineteenth century, women were severely oppressed, repressed, and suppressed by society. Men influenced repression of women’s ideas because it was believed it did not count and held no value; an abundant amount of women unfortunately agreed. An extensive amount of women were uneducated, and subsequently this greatly impacted on their way of thinking. Although the women’s suffrage movement was prominent, an abundant amount of women, in my opinion, were negatively influenced by society as a whole. Within literature, writings oppressed women, and belittled them; portraying them to be weak and in need to have support. This has been the misconception for an extensive amount of centuries. It is debatable that the influence men had on societal views had impacted the boundaries on the views between madness and sanity. Importance on being portrayed as the “perfect” women or housewife could have also been a factor. The late nineteenth century the author, Kate Chopin, brought to the surface truth underneath women with the use of her stories. Many considered this to be madness, because of the content in her writings. As Aristotle once said ‘“No great mind has ever existed without a touch of madness.” (Goodreads)

Some people do not know all that much about exercise and dieting. They do not know healthy ways to eat, and they don’t realize that one can’t get the “Perfect Body” in just a few days. These people are possibly victims of Fitness Myths. “In 2002, the Federal Trade Commission released a report that shared a review of 300 weight-loss ads promoting 218 different products. They found the rampant use of false or misleading claims” (FTC, 2003) Misleading fitness products can be particularly damaging. If one is mislead into purchasing a product and the product doesn’t work as it was advertised, not only have you wasted your money, but also the product may have physically hurt your body. FTC chairman Timothy Muris talks about the advertising and promotion tactics of the fitness industry “ads that make claims and promises that are clearly implausible and patently false run in all forms of media, with the notable exception of network TV” (FTC, 2003). Misleading advertisements are common among all forms of media. Although TV commercials may be more powerful in their persuasion, an obvious reason for this is that TV advertisements show more misleading commercials. A technique frequently used in commercials to make them seem credible is that “many deceptive ads run in highly respected publications and they are perceived to be credible”(FTC, 2003). Therefore if the TV program you are watching, while the commercial is being played, seems credible, consumers tend to believe that the products advertised during the episode are also trustworthy.
(1) In many short stories and plays there are persons involved which [who] help characterize other main characters. This process of characterization is called a foil. [A foil is not a process.] "A foil is a minor character, who by similarities and differences, reveals characteristics of a more important character, and who, as an element of plot, is there for the more important character to talk to" (Vavra). The foils in William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, help the reader understand the main character; [, not ;] Hamlet.

Most people probably have tried to stay fit. There are thousands of commercials and advertisements selling a greater health regimen for staying fit. Fit Miss Ignite solution is designed to keep women motivated so they can work out on a daily basis. If energy and motivation are absent in one’s work out life, Fit Miss will be an astounding way to start a weight loss goal. Chady Dunmore, a bikini fitness model, was depicted in the advertisement as both healthy and fit. She is an excellent person to inform women on the importance of the Fit Miss product. Chady was portrayed in a boxing setting with fitness gear on. The idea is to show strength and determination for getting in shape. The following activities can be done: eating healthy, exercise daily, or drinking Fit Miss Ignite solution. Women will only remain committed to a superb product that yields positive results in their daily routine. The Fit Miss Ignite prepares women mentally for the weight loss; Chady is displayed in the snap shot toward a healthy lifestyle. The advertisement ends with Chady looking fiercely at the kick bag. The camera moves in closer to show the audience that Chady is in fact about to start a two- hour aerobics work out. Additionally, Chady accomplishes all this without a break of eye-contact with the camera.
