Having looked at these figures of the company, we can say that Apple-iTunes has replaced the old music business in the digital era. Since Apple were technology expertise and visionaries, they adapted the model that people were already using to obtain music instead of beating a dead horse. They saw the opportunity where the music industry saw a threat.

Their marketing strategy has also been really key in order to understand their success. They achieve the popularity of iTunes by selling their hardware, the iPod. Reaching the masses through this affordable hardware and then gaining the market spreading their software to use the device, even though the computer not being a Mac.

...rmore, they are also providing with better sound quality in their streaming service.
Finally, there are lots of other strategies that iTunes could adopt in their marketing strategy as they are in a Technology-creative space. They should take advantage of being in this position and try to engage more with the customers. One of the ways which they use to engage with customers is the iTunes Festival. This year they streamed the concerts for other fans who wanted to watch it from home. They could also add a chat to enable to comment on the live streaming in order to increase engagement from the people who couldn't attend the show. On the other hand the strategy I mentioned earlier would get to interact more effectively with customers, through implementing strategies from the games industry into the music industry. And thus add value to the new Apple service streaming.

Napster creates a threat to the music industry, which includes Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and well-known musical groups, because it diminishes their distribution control, record sales and lowers their profit. The music industry must continue to take legal action against Napster to eliminate its negative impact.

Music is universally known as an expression of emotion, rebellion against the man, a way of life, a random collection of sounds, an annoying thing kids listen to, or even a vacation from everything, but in reality music is free of all definition. The industry involved in buying, selling and recording of music has grown so old, treacherous, and ignorant that it can not figure out the steps it needs to evolve with the rapidly expanding music industry. Musicians and fans alike are screaming about the dire need of some modern day innovation in the market. Sadly the monstrous corporations that dominate the market have put a lid on the competitive edge, stopped the innovative changes any smaller companies can make.

When it launched on April 28, 2003, iTunes was set to forever change the world of music and technology (Griggs & Leopold). When it first started, songs were available for instant download for only ninety-nine cents and albums for less than ten dollars. ITunes changed the way music was distributed and marketed. With the release of iTunes, music consumers could now download music digitally with the click of a button. Consumers no longer had to leave the comfort of their home to buy or listen to a song or an album. Before iTunes and digital music, consumers had to buy a complete album or record even if they only liked one of the songs on it. ITunes revolutionized music by marketing the single. ITunes surely made an impact on the music world, not only by making songs and albums more accessible and affordable to consumers, but by changing listeners as a whole, both socially and culturally.

One important change that has occurred is the distribution of music digitally. Music now in our society is purchased through the Internet. The simplicity of having an entire library of music on one device has been adopted versus having stacks of CD’s or tapes. The emergence of the Mp3 file has changed how we listen to music. Major companies such as Apple’s iTunes created the distribution of digital music. CNNMoney mentions, “iTunes is currently responsible for 63% of all digital music sales” (CNNMoney). They set the standard of 99 cents for a single song, which was quickly adopted by major music companies. Selling songs by singles provided more control ...
