The Meaning of Discipleship
The term disciple is a very vague one. It can be interpreted in a
number of ways. The reader's digest oxford edition defines it as 'A
follower or pupil of a leader, teacher, philosophy.' This meaning is
also indefinite, in this part of the coursework I will try to come
about a more distinct answer.
The early disciples followed Jesus almost blindly. They were told to
leave their fishing nets and boats upon the shore and they did. This
means being a disciple requires faith. However, Jesus did not just
expect them to leave with no assurance. This was Jesus accounting for
our humanity. He realises that humans find it hard to believe so he
performed a miracle with the fish for proof.
When Jesus had called the disciples he requested that they tell the
world about him. The early disciples would go from town to town
preaching the word. Jesus also accounted for the fact that not
everyone wants to hear what they are saying. Jesus gave the
instruction that when people won't listen they should 'shake the dust
from off their feet' and continue. The fact that Jesus keeps making
allowances for disciple's human weakness shows that he doesn't want us
to be perfect just to set out to do right.
Being a disciple today could me various things. It may not even
require people to go out of their way for people however simply let
God's light shine. This could include helping someone with a pushchair
up the stairs.
One of the most important rules in Christian life is 'love thy
neighbour.' To be a disciple this must be a vital part of life. They
must always strive to show love and mercy to others however hard this

efficiently and in a way making it easier for disciples to communicate
to the world about Jesus.
Christianity is no longer hidden. People can openly talk to people
about Jesus and the work he did. There are thousands of Christian
churches and over 200 Christian denomination so it would be hard for
anyone not to know about Jesus.
Finally nowadays if someone does not want to be a disciple of Jesus
they can at least seek counsel in various other places. Counselling
and talking about your feelings is encouraged today whereas before
concerns were kept under allowing people to make injudicious choices.
In conclusion, I still believe that it is harder to be a disciple
today. The world has become very secular and people therefore have a
'can't be bothered' attitude towards Christ.

...style, names, words but the way to church renewal in world-wide discipleship. What is really needed in this secular society and church is a “discovering again of Jesus,” explaining it as “a thicker Jesus.” Therefore, one last insight the book taught me was to think about discipleship interactively. It is not a passive but an active message. It is by going into the flied of spiritual battle that true discipleship follow the ways of Jesus. It is not a commitment one but of many who shares and advocate for the same rights and duties to exercise what was recommended by their Leader. What the book implies as the main theme is that discipleship must be active and incarnational meaning that all believers should feel anxious to support the cause of Jesus in a world that although dead in their sins is safe under the divine umbrella of the power of incarnational discipleship.
and John 10: 43-44. He tells them "… if one of you wants to be great
Dependency is also substantial within the church in order to maintain its members, and is seen as another method of thought reform. The act of using discipleship in order to make sure new members are on board with the churches beliefs and practices is a large portion of the type of dependency used in the church. The discipler, as previously mentioned, pretty much dictates what the disciple does in their life in regards to almost everything. There i...
The disciples moved to different cities to share the word that Jesus had given them. They were willing to die for Jesus but they knew they had a mission to fulfill.
Similarly to prayer buddies, discipleships are pretty much what the International Church of Christ is known for; without having a discipleship, one is not a true Christian (CARM). In this process of discipleship, an older member of the church is paired up with a newer member in order to oversee their lives and help mentor them onto the right path for salvation (Who Are We?). The discipler (older member who is the mentor), makes all these decisions for the disciple which can range from confessing their sins to them all the way to where they should live and who they should associate themselves with. Life decisions are dictated by the discipler, and the disciple is expected to submit to t...
The church must strive to have in place a biblical foundation to discipleship that relates to the millennial generation. All of the churches discipleship efforts should strive to build and foster authentic relationships. We are at a precarious point in the life of the church where the Christian community must come to a conclusion to rethink the efforts to making disciples. “Some (though not all) ministries have taken cues from the assembly line, doing everything possible to streamline the manufacture of shiny new Jesus-followers, fresh from the factory floor. But disciples cannot be mass-produced. Disciples are handmade, one relationship at a time.” In today’s culture the church needs new architects to design a way in which the local church community can foster and build authentic relationships that lead to discipleship.
...d make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20) Jesus calls on his disciples to travel out into the globe and build disciples of all nations.
The disciples where to face new challenges in their lives, Jesus was to be crucified and they would all leave Him. Then all the disciples deserted him and fled (Matt 26:59} they were now discouraged, they left their master, they seemed defeated and finished. But they were going through a transient period from believers to believers of power who would overcome and turn the world upside down. Jesus had rose from the dead and now he opens their mind to what the scriptures say (Luke 24:45) he now encourages them to stay in the city. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”(Luke 24:48)
Matthew 28:19-20 talks about a very important command given to the disciples before Jesus' ascent into heaven. This command is called the Great Commission, and it calls the disciples to go out into the world and tell others about Jesus. This does not mean just the people alive during Jesus' time. It calls all people who have put their trust in Jesus Christ to follow this command.
The Meaning of Discipleship In this piece of coursework I will be writing about the meaning of
Initially, Jesus was the steward and the disciples were his resources. Jesus led the disciples who were useful, because they helped to spread his word. A testament to how great of a steward Jesus was is that after Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, most of the disciples became the stewards and the Bible became their resource. Although they deserted Jesus at his time of persecution, the majority of them continued to preach the word of God using the miracles they were shown and the word of God as their resources.
for people in my parish. A great example of a disciple is John Paul 2nd.
When Jesus called His disciples, His invitation was simple. He invited them to follow Him. The same is true today. In Matthew 28, Jesus gave His last charge to His disciples, and the charge was simple. He called his followers to go and make disciples. Much effort has been placed by Christians to fulfill this charge, commonly referred to as the Great Commission. Jesus chose to fulfill the implementation of the New Covenant through 12 men who He called, appointed, and commissioned, and he only had a few short years to prepare them for the task (Willson, 1990). His methods were unconventional and were revolutionary for that time. His disciples were to be trained extensively by Jesus, living with Him for three years prior to His ascension. He taught about servant leadership and its meaning for both the leader and follower Matt. 20:25-28). From the beginning, Jesus put in place a careful plan, and an examination of His actions in the Gospels showed that Jesus left behind the pattern to be replicated. His methods, which included the incorporation of three different levels of discipleship, included His interaction with Peter, His closest three (Peter, James, and John), and finally the group of 12. This paper identified and analyzed the three levels of discipleship Jesus modeled, these discipleship methods were then measured against modern leadership theories, and Jesus’s level of involvement and interaction with his disciples were critiqued in light of these modern theories in an effort to determine the effectiveness of this approach.
In the divine religion of Christianity, the life of Apostle Paul set a legendary example of devotion, loyalty, and commitment to the Holy Christ and the church. He was the true apostle of Jesus Christ who tried his level best to spread the Divine mission of peace and love to all civilizations and different cultures. Unlike other apostles he was the one who enlightened the Asia world with the great teachings of Jesus Christ through his ceaseless endeavor in the form of preaching. His mission was to bring humanity closer to the blessings of Christ by means of apostolic charity so as not to be confided to one race or culture but to the whole mankind (Feingold, 2009).
