Hardware Systems
Many technologies are available to a business looking to create their own digital data. Nevertheless, some things must be well thought-out before buying equipment or software. The deciding factors of what will work best for an organization are dependent on the organization’s current software, budget, skill-level of employees, available time, available data, and amount of data in need of digitizing. Because the process of data conversion, collection, and creation is often the costliest component of applying a data storage system, the conclusion cannot be made without careful thought.
Accuracy of data input is important. What method of data input would be best for each of the following situations and explain why.
• Printed questionnaires - Keyboard
• Telephone survey – Keyboard
• Bank checks – Scanning
• Retail tags - Scanning – Bar Codes
• Long documents - Scanning
The best method of entering data is the keypad. While the rate at which information can be entered is based on the skills of the individual entering the data, it is still the most acceptable method.
Scanning is the process of translating photographs into a digital form that can be recognized by a computer. Scanners come in an assortment of configurations. The type that should be considered depends on your scanning needs and budget.
Bar codes are designed for quick and accurate data entry. Bar Codes can be printed effortlessly on many laser printers and can be attached to nearly anything, such as equipment, work orders, and machines, supply parts, and more.
Convenience and quality of output are important. Explain what method of output would be best for each of the following situations and explain why:
• Handheld computer – Wireless data transfer - the whole point of a handheld is mobility, and if you cannot be mobile with data transfer then it is a pocket post-it note.
• Color photograph – photo quality printer along with photo quality paper.
• Resume – Laser printer - High-resolution and high-definition on heavy, quality paper, for a good hands-on presentation. In today's world, a resume should also be easily scan-able and this is a reason to consider ...
... middle of paper ...
...sp; Data on hard disk - This is why we defrag as often as needed. Although the data can be retrieved in any order, if related data is stored adjacently it goes faster.
• Data on CD-ROM - How fast the CD reader can read the CD and the bus can transfer the data to the CPU.
• Data on floppy disk – Speed is determined by the ability of the reader.
Computer hardware can be any part of a computer that you can touch. This includes the keyboard, monitor, mouse, floppy, hard drive, and all the pieces of electrical, physical, and mechanical components. While there are many different versions and manufactures of system components, the basic components are the same.

Jasmin, Luc. "Communicating with Someone with Aphasia." nlm.nih.gov. Ed. David Zieve. Medline Plus, 22 May 2012. Web. 12 Mar. 2014.
Aphasia is recognized by a neurologist physician who treats a person for their brain injury. The physician usually performs test that requires the patient to follow commands, answer questions, name objects, and carry on a conversation. If the patient has Aphasia they are reffered to a speech-language pathologist, who tests the persons communication abilities. Such as the ability to speak, converse socially, understand language, express ideas, read and write, and the ability to swallow and use alternative and arguementive communication.(www.medicinenet.com)
When talking about Wernicke’s aphasia there are also many language symptoms. Those suffering from Wernicke’s aphasia have no problem with speech, but their speech isn’t fluent and doesn’t make sense (DiNapoli, 2012, p.52). Mr. Gorgan experienced psychotic speech (DiNapoli, 2012, p. 53). If the lesion that caused this aphasia wasn’t entirely eliminated, output might slowly improve. On the other hand, if this lesion has been eliminated, the patient will more than likely not be able to talk like they once did ever again, no matter how much therapy they receive or treatment (DiNapoli, 2012, p. 54). When Grogan was told to identify objects around him, he was only successful with those most familiar to him (DiNapoli, 2012, p. 55).
As Alzheimer’s disease progresses, People become less able to carry out usual functions and activities. This is due to the death of large number of brain cells. One of the functions impaired by the disease is communication skill. Since people with AD have trouble remembering things, communication is hard for them. It may be hard for them to find words or forget what they want to say. When talking, the disease also causes people to talk without train of thought. The listening role is also affected by the disease. People can have problems with understanding what words mean, paying attention during long conversations and even find it very hard to block out backgr...
Each section was organized and written in a way that the readers would be able to understand. The authors explained the previous research that had been conducted on individuals with aphasia, and this showed the readers that the authors had a well-documented, concise review of literature. A strength of this study was the exclusion criteria of the participants. This included drug or alcohol abuse, psychiatric illnesses, and other neurological illnesses. If the participants had any one of these three criteria, this could have negatively affected the outcomes of the
The 62 year old patient is believed to have expressive aphasia which is a type of nonfluent aphasia. Expressive aphasia
In the final stage of Alzheimer’s disease, the individual makes little or no effect at communication, and their verbal responses are limited, often one word or just a sound. You must continue to be attentive to how your patient communicates their needs and especially careful to communicate care and concern through touch, facial expression and tone of voice.
Trends in the use and types of AAC were thoroughly described in terms of gender preferences, communication activities, and communication partners. These trends will be helpful in answering my clinical question because it provides information regarding what kinds of AAC systems a patient with ALS can benefit most from in different situations. Doyle and Phillips (2001) also identified factors such as “severity of speech impairment, functional status, and communication needs in different environments” that can influence what type of AAC system is recommended for the patient to receive the most effective means of communication (p. 167). Knowledge about these patient factors can allow a SLP to find an AAC system that matches the patient’s current needs and functional
There were three people in the leader’s portion who portrayed three different cases of Aphasia, from being mild to being severe. The group meeting was different from previous ones due to the fact they had guest speakers from the 911 Sarasota County Emergency Operations Bureau. During the meeting, people were informed on how the 911 operators handle 911 calls and how this process can be different when dealing with a person with Aphasia. When completing these 911 examples, the crowd could spot the issues that would be difficult for a person with Aphasia when faced with an emergency. In addition, there were some 911 experiences that were shared by the group making it interesting to hear how they handled the situation and still can provide some suggestions to the supervisor of 911 operations to better the dilemma in progress. By observing this support group and how everyone interacted with each other, it was nice to experience such a devoted support group to the people with Aphasia and how as a community they come together to make differences in people's lives. It was a pleasure attending this group meeting. It is relieving to
Aphasic patients have something to say, and it?s time they were heard. Imagine one day you are sick and because of your illness and you can no longer express your thoughts. Normal words that you once knew are suddenly out of reach, or you feel as if you are speaking correctly yet no one understands. What do you do? Where do you go for help, and how will you communicate again? These are the concerns of an aphasic patient, and these are the problems we need to address when achieving patient
A barcode is a visual representation of data that is checked and utilized for data. Bar code is simple to control equipment and tool inventory. In facilities supervisors can use barcodes to link work orders, purchase orders, spare parts and equipment which can be further used to track and collect cost. In barcodes historical data can be used to predict the seasonal fluctuation accurately. Barcodes are printed specifically on the paper or a plastic object, therefore actualizing a standardized identification framework is far less expensive than the RFID innovation.
One of the most important aspects in the nursing profession is the need for good and effective communication. This is because good communication skills especially in the nurse-patient relationship have a significant impact on patient safety and recovery. Effective communication skills in the clinical setting are critical for the development of nurse-patient relationship and provision of health care information (Bruderle, 2003). Nurses usually exchange information with physicians, patients, colleagues and other people in the clinical setting. This communication is usually done through a variety of levels and ways, which determine whether it’s effective or not. Due to the importance of communication in the nursing profession and clinical setting, there is a range of different communication strategies including:
Softwares are instructions, commands, or data that direct the operation of computer systems. Hardware is the physical aspect of computers, telecommunications, and other devices. Hardware such as electronic circuitry and other components of a computer use software or programs to make technology do things. Hardware is permanent and not flexible, while software or programming can easily be varied and modified. You can put an entirely new program in the hardware and make it create an entirely new experience for the user. People can change the modular configurations that most computers come with by adding new adapters or cards that extend the computer's capabilities.
A processor is the chip inside a computer which carries out of the functions of the computer at various speeds. There are many processors on the market today. The two most well known companies that make processors are Intel and AMD. Intel produces the Pentium chip, with the most recent version of the Pentium chip being the Pentium 3. Intel also produces the Celeron processor (Intel processors). AMD produces the Athlon processor and the Duron processor (AMD presents).
