Bridging the gap between IT and Business The perception toward the role of IT changed when IT suddenly became paramount to the way the company conducted its business. Although the company’s success is founded on excellent supply chain logistics and product assortment in stores, IT performs a significant role in the firm’s success. For instance, IT is critical for ensuring that items are accessible when the client needed them and that each store partner has the suitable data to reply to client request. In particular relation to its Savvy Store business project, the firm wanted to become the first retailer in the North American region to integrate multimedia and digital information completely in all its 1,000 stores. In order to eliminate the gap between business and IT, it is vital that the IT and business executives and personnel change perceptions about the role of each side of the divide, as the initial step. The methodology to achieving and supporting business-IT arrangement concentrates on acquiring information of the association's arrangement development and amplifying catalysts and minimizing inhibitors (Luftman, 2000). According to Luftman (2000), the process follows six steps as shown in the flow diagram in figure 3. Figure 3. Strategic Alignment Process (Luftman, 2000). Case Analysis Effectiveness of IT and Business Partnership Although it is clearly evident that Hefty Hardware is experiencing problems in the alignment of its business and IT strategy, it may be inaccurate to say that there is zero effectiveness between the IT and business.
