...cause as viewer in the cinemas I love hearing that rattle through the speakers because it amplifies the effect epically in Kickass 2 when Hit-Girl throws the blades at Mother Russia, she then blocks it the her gauntlet the music fades out into cinematic bass rattle which very pleasing. The punches, kicks and weapon impacts had bass affect that give that hard and real sound. In 2013 this was the film that impressed me for the best sound design for action and it’s still my favorite action film so far. The sounds are very hard hitting and cinematic style yet it feels so real and violent even though its not. Whether it’s “real” sound or not, the impact is the similar and it plays a crucial role in determining what genre it isThe sounds, immerse me inside the motion picture, and provide me with a very entertaining experience. One of the best sound designs for action film
The manifestation of roots music from African immigrants developed into American musical genres such as spirituals, blues, and gospel music. As the centuries progressed, spirituals and work songs extended to comprise distinctive song genres, particularly the blues of southern blacks. Work songs and spirituals from African Americans are regarded as a window into their cultural life, their songs interconnect the optimisms, burdens, and beliefs of slavery. Music was imbedded into life, songs were hummed on front porches, chanted in churches, and caroled in the fields. Melodies were passed down from parent to child and through connotations they mirrored the changing times.
And at 2 minutes and 10 seconds she tries to go in front of the truck but at 2:14 as she realizes she can’t get past and she swerves the truck hits her bumper. And she turns right in front of the car she was trying to pass as the audience sees at 2:20 and the fear of oh no she’s going to get hit. Boom at 2:26 she gets hit as she sits awestruck staring at the truck of incoming doom and as she gets hit the music stops. Then we see at 2:29 what she sees and at 2:35 see the car as the car rolls into the ditch. And as the scene rolls out we hear a quiet angelic "hawwwww" sound as the scene turns
An important part in all film is the sound effects, but it is especially vital to a horror movie. The use of sound effects in the trailer for Leatherface is successful in creating a thrilling feeling for the audience. The trailer begins with the couple driving down the road; While this is happening, calming country music are playing in the background. Starting the film off with what sounds like a soft guitar causes the audience to feel relaxed. However, after a few seconds of the soft music playing, an intense screech interrupts the scene. By incorporating the loud, train like screech right after the relaxing country music addresses the jump scare factor of a horror movie, thus, succeeding in addressing all of the aspects of a horror movie into the trailer. Along with abrupt, loud sound effects, the trailer also uses a low, constant beat to captivate the audience. When introducing the protagonist and her child, there is a chilling beat playing in the background that sounds like a low, deep drum. Adding this steady beat to the trailer is useful because it keeps the audience at the edge of their seat in anticipation waiting for what is going to happen next. In the scene involving the institution that was mentioned earlier, there is a loud siren sound constantly echoing. Then, when something unexpected

The quick cuts between the shots of characters wandering throughout the mysterious basement to people running down the dark, shadowy school hallways creates a feeling of worry and nervousness in the audience. As each scene builds suspense, the music becomes louder and expands upon the uncertainty in horror situations. In the next scene, the director zooms in behind the two characters as they’re slowing creeping down the hallways. Suddenly a loud crash is heard and the characters instantly turn around as seen in figure 3. The mid shot provides an image of the fright in their faces. This clip startles the audience as the characters are unexpectedly frightened by the alarming noise. The trailer ends with one final scene of Bird Fitcher falling to the ground and out of nowhere some kind of monster grabs her face. This leaves viewers completely shocked and wondering what the outcome of this horror film will be. Throughout the trailer, multiple dark and eerie scenes containing suspenseful music frightened viewers, but served to widen the potential audience members for the
Film scholars around the world agree that all genres of film are part of the “genre cycle”. This cycle contains four different stages that a specific genre goes through. These stages are: primitive, classic, revisionist, and parody. Each stage that the genre goes through brings something different to that genre’s meaning and what the audience expects. I believe that looking at the horror genre will be the most beneficial since it has clearly gone through each stage.
Rock and roll is a style of music that has roots traced all the way back to the 1800s. It is made up of jazz, blues, folk, country, and rhythm and blues. The rhythm and blues contribution to rock originated from the African American culture (??). Performers like Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, and Little Richard aided in the formation of rock and roll music. The generation that was highly impacted by this new sound was the baby booming population that arose after World War II ended. Black and white teenagers loved every aspect of rock and roll and listened to the music together at the staged concerts Alan Freed created. These young adolescents played a major role in the desegregation movements of the 1960’s and learned a great deal of information from their folk icons Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan. This new form of music gave them new freedom, thoughts, and expression. Middle aged and older adults would say that the creation and evolution of rock and roll corrupted their children or the youth they saw on the streets. Many believed that rock and roll did not corrupt the young it revolutionized them. Rock and roll desegregated young African Americans and whites, it gave a new way for adolescents to express themselves, and it created a new way for the youth to be involved in social or political causes.
The emergence of Rock and Roll was one of the most pivotal moments of our nation’s history. The impact that this genre of music made is still evident in our culture. However, before this genre was able to gain momentum, it faced many cultural conflicts. The book, All Shook Up: How Rock ‘N’ Roll Changed America by Glenn C. Altschuler analyzes the impact that rock and roll music has made on American culture. It explores how the Rock and Roll culture was able to roughly integrate and later conflict with preceding cultural values. This is especially apparent in chapters regarding race and sexuality. Overall, Rock and Roll was extremely controversial amongst parents and educators. This new music genre was condemned by the previous generation as noise and a threat to established cultural norms. However, this genre of music was able to challenge racial barriers, teen sexuality, and family values.

The sound used in this scene are all diegetic, the sounds of gunfire and explosions show that the characters in this scene are in very real danger of being shot or blown up, this helps the viewer grow a more personal connection with the characters since the scene is towards the end of the film, the viewer has developed a personal connection with the characters and do not want them to die. The diegetic sounds of military personnel can be heard, this is used to show the urgency that the military personnel have to get The Sapphires and Dave out of the dangerous situation.
American popular culture is quite serious because we find the “voices” that write, play, film, photograph, dance and explain our American history. George Lipitz notes that historians can learn a lot about the process of identity and memory in the past and present by deciphering the messages contained in popular culture forms such as films, television and music. As stated by George Lipsitz, people can either work for the economy and state, and against the population who take in the messages or they can work in a positive way as memories of the past and hopes for the future.
When you watch this movie you will experience a live action comic book. A movie critic by the name of Amy Nicholson said “A 112-minute entertainment contraption -- celluloid that shapeshifts its frames into video games, comic books and sitcoms”(Nicholson 1). These three things are put into the movie perfectly from health meters to fight being put on the screen like you are playing street fighter. Putting in words for sound effects like “thonk” or “bam” just as you would see in comic books. The effects are put in just perfectly, not to much and not to less.
Enhancing the sustained fright of this film are an excellent cast, from which the director coaxes extraordinary performances, and Bernard Herrmann's chilling score. Especially effective is the composer's so-called "murder music," high-pitched screeching sounds that flash across the viewer's consciousness as quickly as the killer's deadly knife. Bernard Herrmann achieved this effect by having a group of violinists frantically saw the same notes over and over again.
What has the power to make you get up and move, to both inspire you and enrage you? Rock, rap, “pop”, country, and blues are all forms of this phenomenon we call music. Music has been a part of each and everyone of our lives. How often have you heard a song and it brought you back to a place in your past, or reminded you of someone? Chances are you were listening to music that fell into one of the two most popular categories, rock or pop. Both rock and pop can be considered movements in society, however the motivation for these movements were on the opposite ends of the spectrum. Also another thing that they have in common is that once the artists are famous the may both have a tendency to fall off the deep end. This may entail spending thousands of dollars on drugs and alcohol. Eventually many of both pop and rock stars end up in rehab. Even though the lines between rock and pop can be blurred at times there are many distinct differences.
George Gershwin once said, “True music must repeat the thought and inspirations of the people and the time. My people are Americans and my time is today.” Over the years, no form of art has attached itself to humanity more than music. Music has been creating and destroying cultures in the Twentieth Century at a very rapid rate. Fads come and go, but true music and the heart behind it never dies.
