Euthanasia legalization has been a controversial matter for years; studies have shown that arguments regarding the euthanasia debate are often depending on the process used to take the life of the patient. There are countless thoughts surrounding the issue of euthanasia and whether or not it should be legalized. According to the Encyclopedia of American Law, euthanasia is categorized as a class of criminal homicide (Debate.org, par. 3). However, not all homicides are considered illegal. In today’s society, killing is perceived as excusable when used as a criminal penalty, but inexcusable when executed for any other reason. In most places, non-voluntary euthanasia is considered illegal and involuntary euthanasia is considered a criminal homicide. Protesters often claim that laws in contradiction of euthanasia are government authorized suffering, but this claim would be similar to saying that laws against marketing contaminated food are government mandated starvation. It is suggested that Euthanasia should be legalized, but have a strict decree about who is capable of receiving it.

It is easy for people, society, and the government to judge one by spouting all the negatives issues. However, if people were to walk a mile in the suffering victim shoes, feeling what they feel, our thoughts would be different. Humans tend to criticize one another instead of help each other.
