Although I was a different person in high school, it is possible for people to truly change if they put their mind to it. In high school, I really did not care about my grades. My attendance was awful, skipping too many classes to count. I barely managed to pull off a 3.0 GPA by the end of my senior year. When I came to college, I knew grades were important but I did not realize how challenging it was to get above a 3.0 in college.
Throughout my high school years they always told me that I needed to go to college so I wouldn’t have to go through what they did. At first I was hard headed to listen to them but after talking to other family members about their college experiences and what it did for them I started to understand the

Sadly, high school did not prepare students as well as a majority of them thought that it did. New college students are in need of some guidance and a push in the right direction; instead of a push in a direction that is not going to be needed. The freshman, and any other students that are struggling should be focusing on their mental health and organization from school and their life outside of school. Not being able to keep the two separate and organized could greatly affect a student’s mental health, and damage their school work. All Golden West College students should be required to take two semesters of learning how to do things that everyone should learn after they leave high school, such as: how to balance a checkbook, how to do taxes, what a mortgage is, and many more things that they will need to know in life.
College is not said to be easy, however it is not very hard for some people. When students graduate high school their first thought it “what about college”. Mostly in senior year people spend time applying to many different campuses all around. Applying for the right college for students is a very important life decision and it must take some time to do. Students apply to colleges based on their grades, expenses, and locations.
However, many students just attend college for a semester to prove to other people that they can survive college for a small amount of time. Although, this is the reason that many students drop out and are wasting their money for no reason. College can become very difficult in the fact that it’s hard to comprehend what the professor is trying to teach them. Receiving a college education is very different from High School is that the work and the
Preparing for college starts well before senior year in high school. The primary purpose of a high school is to get students to go to college. The purpose of going to college is to gain work-related skills and knowledge on the career path a student takes which will eventually be their future. Also, students are investing a lot of money to attend colleges, so they count on high school to prepare them for what they are going to expect in college. For some the transition from high school to college could be difficult because they don 't have the right skill set that they need for college which they should 've to learn back in high school.
If they wait to go to school, it could also put a delay on their career. Then when they do want to go to start going back to college to get a degree, it will become harder to start going back. Also, there are the students that take a break during the middle of their college years and this can hurt them also. Not every student sees taking a break as a bad thing. Many will take a gap year to learn new things through personal experience and not in an academic setting.
You ever heard of the saying it’s about what you know? Well that’s how college kind of works! In addition to not being capable of doing the assignments, you have those students who don’t have parents who attended college. So countless students don’t have that extra push to learn about college and it discourages them. That is when you see anxiety develop the most.
College beginning said to be for everyone, how I value college education, college teaching styles each show some importance. While many students think that a college education should only provide specific job skills, there should be a balance of intellectual development, reading, and critical thinking. College is a place for people to learn a career, but students need to be wary of which one they chose. These past few years and days I have noticed if you have a high school diploma or GED there is a very vague chance of getting a good productive job let alone a career. So some teachers and many other people that are in students lives pressure them to go to college.
