On February 13, Mr. Ambrosio’s Honors Shapers class will depart for Italy. This will be the first time in years that Blind Brook students have gone abroad for a school trip. The students are very excited to explore the many sights of Italy. Senior Soapie Dellorusso said, “I know Italy is a very cool place and I am excited to go there.” Senior Andrea Bartolotta agrees, saying, “It’s going to be really exciting. I can’t wait to explore Italian culture.”
This trip will be an exciting new experience for the students in Shapers, the majority of whom have never been to Italy before. Besides being a new experience, this trip will also have a lot of educational value as it pertains to Honors Shapers. Jon Ambrosio, the teacher of Honors shapers, said, “Shapers is an interdisciplinary class that focuses on humanity, creation, classical Greek culture, and Roman literature.” When needed, teachers Paige Buonocore and Kaitlin Carey contribute to the class by offering their expertise on art and music, respectively. This trip applies perfectly to the curriculum of the class due to the large amount ...

The Bell Smith Personality Assessment was accurate in reflecting my personality. I have taken several personality tests because I know developing strong interpersonal skills enhances personal growth and development. Each test has delivered similar results demonstrating my willingness to work with others, need for organization, focus on emotional content, and search for additional information. According to the Bell Smith assessment, I fall into the categories of member, planner, juggler, empathizer, and researcher. I would challenge the assessment with defining me a planner because I incorporate the juggler traits into my daily activities. Overall, the assessment was not surprising and I would like to continue taking different personality tests to see diverges from previous results.

However, if you pay attention to the lyrics you may see that in many ways the song is highly patriotic.
The establishment of the State of Israel was one of the greatest feats in modern Jewish history. However, with the establishment of the state, a new nation was born. Because of this, there was a lot of writing that would describe how new Jews, and old Jews Interacted with each other. In addition, many Zionist writings were written at the time, and people were writing abut the Ashkenazi and Mizrahi Jews. Each of these topics has a tremendous effect on our generation, because they fueled movements that tried to change the views of the Jewish people. In the Story Dr. Schmidt, by Moshe Shamir we find many instances when the author talks about old and new Jews, Zionism, and how he fills the gap between Ashkenazi and Mizeachi Jews.

In the autobiography written by Frederick Douglass, it gives the reader details on the everyday life of past American slaves from both his eyes and from others that kept detailed record that they either witnessed or lived. Douglass describes firsthand of what he witnessed as well as his insight to personal experiences from being a slave to becoming a free man. Only when it came down to it he was never truly a free man, he was a runaway that risked everything he had worked for and if ever caught could be forced to return to his master or be killed for his action.
In 2008, Prop 2 in California was supported by groups such as the HSUS and other groups. Prop 2 has enforced “… Packer/processors, grain producers, suppliers and those in the business of selling food, must recognize this, the organization focuses on different types of animals, such as: dolphins, whales, cats and dogs (Lovvorn & Perry, 2009).” Prop 2 was a law concerning animal holdings. It declared that animal holdings, such as cages, must be large enough for the animals to have room to extend their legs, move around, and not be cramped.. The Humane Society of United States and PETA supported the organizations to inform the people on the sidelines about the different tactics one could take to save the animals. The Humane Society of United States used the ability to spy as a tactic. Therefore the organization used a small pen sized video camera. In the The Barnyard Strategist, “The HSUS released the video in San Bernardino County, district attorney, the story made national headlines.” This can be related to the movie we watched in class “The Cove,” in which a group of men broke into a slaughterhouse of dolphins and whales to catch the ones who were slaughtering the animals. They did not know about the cameras. This helped provide footage to show how the animals were actually treated. The HSUS used merging different organizations such as the smaller animal welfare groups together, this was able to help the organization increase their money to help the company be able to inform others about animal abuse. Pacelle’s strategy consisted of creating a ballot measure that will allow those who are vegetarian and vegan to help reform the ballots. They use media to help get their point across by using a male who is vegetarian who strokes...
College football is one of the most exciting sports organizations in the sporting world. Not only is it thrilling on the field, but also off the field as well. This particular sport organization brings in a ton of money that benefits itself, as well as other sports organizations at the college level. There is a huge demand for success for this organization and if the standard of winning is not there, even for a year, anyone working for that particular school may lose their job. A job I aspire to have is being a college football coach. This job is extremely thrilling as well as displeasing compared to any other job in the organization. The spotlight is not only on the players, but also it is on you as a coach. It is very difficult to keep a job in this organization if as a coach you do not produce a winning record. College football may be the best sports organization to work in and also the worst at the same time.
I’ve always appreciated art but after taking this class I see it so differently & carry much more knowledge. I hope to revisit Italy some day so I can look at its art & architecture in a new way than I had previously. I guarantee it would be a whole different experience than
“What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or in the holy name of liberty or democracy”( Gandi)? Gandi, arguably the most influential advocate for world peace, said this quote in response to war-mongering imperial nations in the 20th century. Known for his pacifist ideology during the movement to liberate India, Gandhi exercised civil disobedience rather than entering an armed conflict against the tyrannical British Government. His ultimate conclusion about war was that the horrors of war do not justify any moral corse or ideology. In Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried and Ernest Hemingway’s For Whom the Bell Tolls, both authors subtly battle this idea. In The Things They Carried Tim O'brien remarks on the impact of war on soldiers serving in Vietnam. For Whom the Bell Tolls focuses on an American soldier during the Spanish Civil War. Known as a testing ground for fascist dictators, the Republic of Spain faced a terrifying adversary of fascist rebels supported by Hitler. The main character, Robert Jordan, known as Roberto, fights against the rebels via guerilla warfare. In both novels, The Things They Carried and For Whom The Bell Tolls, the main characters must evaluate whether they are willing to sacrifice their morals and ideology during wartime; ultimately, their end conclusions differ as to whether war is justified.
When presenting ‘A Place in Tuscany’ the perspective changes to that of a young man. Compared to the house in Brisbane, more use is made of the conversation and there is a more sophisticated and advanced vocabulary and knowledge of the area. This gives the reader a more adult insight into the area.
For this assignment I have chosen to review the film, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, a romantic comedy about the life of a thirty year old Greek woman named Toula, who is unmarried and in a rut until one day while serving at her family’s restaurant she meets a school teacher named Ian. In the end they fall in love, get married and start a family of their own, but the film documents their struggle to break through many barriers including her family’s strong traditions, values, and beliefs. My Big Fat Greek Wedding illustrates how socialization can impact someone’s everyday life through their gender, religion, and culture. However, it also shows that when individuals violate these concepts in their traditional sense, it is commonly as social deviance and defiance.
