That’s we need to move forth in our society not back, we needs to leave drugs behind and start to focus on more important things. Marijuana should not be legalized for recreational use because marijuana is addictive, marijuana presents health risks, and marijuana can have a negative effect on society. To start off, human beings have been smoking marijuana for quite some time now, and many of those humans abuse it and become addicted. Once an individual has tried marijuana, they can have the desire to abuse it and do it more often. According to adai.us.edu, “If you use marijuana daily, there is a 50/50 chance that you will become addicted”.
The legalization of marijuana is a large controversy in many parts of the world today, but the obvious negative effects that the drug induces has kept it from being legalized. Many researchers have a strong positive attitude towards marijuana. It has been said that the drug is “worth investigating and even providing as a medicine for pain relief, severe nausea, and appetite stimulation for seriously ill patients” (Zimmerman 2). On a more negative side, studies have also found in many cases of pregnant women who smoke marijuana, that chemicals in the drug have halted early pregnancy. Scientists have determined a link between activation of the biological receptors that respond to cannabinoids (the psychoactive ingredients in marijuana) and abrupt interruption of pregnancy at a very early stage (Ferguson 71).
Medicinal edible marijuana is legal now so I think that people will try to abuse marijuana even more. I hear some people say that it helps to relieve stress just like it says in the article, the high from marijuana give people a sense of relaxation. Many people are dependent on the drug though. I’ve learned that marijuana can be deadly in high doses even though most people believe it is harmless. I did not know that smoking when pregnant could cause such negative effects on offspring.

And it can’t easily be cure, because once you are addicted to marijuana it is very difficult for one to detach him or her self from the drug without any medical profession. To prevent unnecessary use of marijuana, the drug shouldn’t be used because can be very dangerous to the body and health. Beside from using such drug, it is better if we were to use a different one, not marijuana alone.
Its usage in modern times is controversial, and in recent years the American Medical Association, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and other pharmaceutical organizations have issued statements opposing its usage for medical reasons. With marijuana being easier and easier to get on the streets, medical marijuana is now thrown into this, making most teens simple access to marijuana. Others are concerned that heavy marijuana use will lead to marijuana addiction in the user and a lower quality of life as well as health problems, financial issues and more life problems. The flashy marketing attached to marijuana laced drinks and baked goods appear to be marketed towards teens and this is disturbing to many.
Most people don’t like marijuana cause it not for them everything is not for everyone. People understand that the FDA must approve marijuana but, there are people dying from cancer and AIDS marijuana is a drug that don’t kill. People can’t get addictive like most pain medications do to people it also don’t make people do harder drugs. The only way marijuana can interfere with leaning if people don’t uses their brain the brain is a muscle you must uses it.
However The Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology has recently published “experienced marijuana users perform tasks as accurately after having smoked cannabis as they do sober, according to clinical trial data.” This disrupts the argument that smokers will inevitably go down a hard road filled with the use of harder drugs. If a person does go down this road it may be caused by the use of marijuana; however, it will not be do to a lack of decision making ability. Most companies that have drug test requirements have a policy against any THC in your system, even if it is prescribed to you. Many people believe that marijuana should be legal in America for medical use. If medical weed was legal it could help many people who have glaucoma, which is a condition of increased pressure within the eyeball, causing gradual loss of sight. Marijuana helps relieve the pressure in the eyes which slows down the effect of the disease. It also reduces the size of tumors in a persons body.
Since the introduction of marijuana into main stream culture several decades ago, the controversy over legalizing marijuana has never been more vocalized. There are arguments in today’s society stating marijuana is a drug that needs to be legalized for medical use; relieving ailments like headaches, body aches, and side effects from cancer. Some users even argue that marijuana helps them focus and motivates them throughout the day. On the contrary, clinical studies have shown the long term side effects from smoking the drug include memory loss, slower reaction time, and damage to the respiratory system. Not only is there the long term effects, but the use of marijuana is known as the “gateway drug” effectively leading users to stronger substances
