Throughout this course we have repeatedly encountered three core theoretical perspectives. There is the Structrural-functionalis, social-conflict theory, and symbolic-interactionism. Each of these theoretical perspectives informs our understanding of the world and ourselves better. First, it is important to explain what each one of these perspectives mean and then go into how helpful they are and even necessary to people of faith. Structural-functional approach is a “framework for building theory that sees society as a complex system whose parts work together to promote solidarity and stability” (Titchener 11). This theory focus’s a lot on what the consequences that society receives when certain actions are displayed. This theory really focuses on social structure “which is a relatively stable pattern of social behavior” (Titchener 12). This theory is important because it kind of focuses on the idea of what sin can do to us/ society. This shows that our actions matter. Our actions can and will have consquences.
