Concert Criticism
Concert Criticism (Essay, 500 words, typed). Attend one public concert of classical music during this course. Write a review or criticism based on your experience. Include your response as a listener to the "live" presentations of varied repertoires; to the circumstances and setting in which the performance occurred; and to the performers. Evaluate these in terms of your own personal growth, and the validity of the artistic experience itself. The performance must be "classical" music of any period, preferably those discussed in class.

Sunday, May 4th 2014 is a day I will always have a nostalgic memory of because little did I know that attending a concert for a school assignment would be a life-changing experience for me. ...I can speak for the audience because of the deafening applause the performers received at the end of the concert and when the soloist was presented with a bouquet of flowers. We were all on our feet. The ambiance was professional. I have always thought orchestra music old fashioned and colloquial. I now realize that the concepts, style and texture that we have studied in class these past weeks were perfectly portrayed in the concert.

My only regret was that I was not allowed to take pictures of the performers on stage; neither was I allowed to record the concert for my enjoyment later. The performance was outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and look forward to future concerts. I didn’t know I could sit through the concert but I did and longed for more. I don’t know what a professional will say but to me, the concert was phenomenal by my standard as a novice.
