College will be a major change for me; in all likelihood, it will probably be the most significant transformation I will experience. It will be a time of growth and learning. In order to adapt to these many changes I hope to mature both emotionally and educationally. In doing so, I will influence those around me and the community as a whole. I anticipate that my life experiences will prove to be valuable to me and to those I come into contact with.
I have had many challenges to overcome thus far. I’ve had problems with my school work, but most significantly, problems with myself. I have made many wrong decisions and I have had trouble realizing what is important to me in the past. I now know what steps I need to take in order to become a better person and to stay on the right path that I have chosen. I hope to continue this pattern of maturation by accomplishing my goal of academic excellence while attending New Jersey City University. I have already promised myself that I will not participate in any activity that will lead me astray morally or academically. I am very good at meeting all of the challenges that I have to meet. I have already begun to take an initive on guiding myself in the right direction, by taking my school work seriously, looking for a job that would benefit my major, and working harder to make my self happy.
I am interested in majoring in Media Arts at New Jersey City University. I am taking a Media Arts curse in High School now and I am really interested in the aspects that go on in the field of Media. I like the wide verity of oppurtunities someone can get with an education in Media Arts. A major thing that attracted me to your university was your great school on Media. I also took a tour of your campus and feel in love at first site.
I am currently participating in my high school peer ministry program. Which is a program in our school that gives specially selected seniors an opportunity to show their leadership skills to the incoming freshman by giving them an opportunity to be comfortable at St. Mary High School. I stay active by playing sports such as basketball, baseball, & bowling. I’m also interested in music.
I’m currently enrolled in Montgomery College, located in Maryland. Montgomery College is a community college. Community colleges are different in comparison to four-year universities. I had a choice of either getting a job or going to college. There are many reasons why I choose to go to Montgomery College. I chose to go to college because I want to pursue a degree in Psychology. When choosing a college, there are a lot of decisions to make and you have to choose what’s best in your interest. In today’s society, community colleges take up a lot of the students going to pursue their education. President Obama has proposed to make all community colleges free for all Americans and I agree with this statement. People have different perspectives
As I thought of this article, many of the issues I have faced as a single Hmong woman in her mid-twenties came to mind. Should I discuss the functional reasons why marriage is so important in the Hmong culture, especially for women? Or do I talk about the lack of eligible, older Hmong men? Better yet, should I complain about the attempts by my relatives to find me a good husband as if it were an unfortunate circumstance that I was single instead of a conscious choice? Thinking it over, though, I decided that all those questions boiled down to one fundamental truth – the Hmong community is still trying to learn how to treat the increasing number of Hmong women who, like me, are making the choice to stay single in their mid-twenties.
As the former president of Harvard University, Derek Bok wrote “The most obvious purpose of college education is to help students acquire information and knowledge by acquainting them with facts, theories, generalizations, principles, and the like. This purpose scarcely requires justification.” America needs educated citizens to help maintain the level of intelligence we have in society. Students need to be taught to their specific career and the knowledge needed in that career. Though education students are strengthened for their futures as good citizens. College is a more specialized form of the education they have received throughout their entire schooling and will need for their careers. College prepares students for the future by specializing
When a student gets out of college the game plan is supposed to be, get a job in the field that you went to school for and make money so you can start your life. That particular situation is rare considering not all students get a job fresh out of college. For the students that don’t, they have to go back home and settle for a regular job and start paying off their giant student loans and put their life on hold. Even with having the job they wanted the student loans come right around the corner. After college is when the student’s life is supposed to start and the part where you get a car payment, pay rent, utilities, but none of that is possible when you add the enormous amount of money that the student will be in debt by. With the amount the students have to pay fresh out of college, more students are sacrificing more time struggling to pay off the student loans then they spent in school. Student loans are set-up in a way to be flawed and not always completely necessary to the student.
A college degree is one of the best educations that a person can get. It not only develops your mind, but it helps to develop you as a person as well. No matter what kind of degree you receive, whether it be a bachelors, associates, or masters you are more likely to get a better job than without it or with just a high school diploma. Workers with a college degree will earn much more and are much less likely to be unemployed than those with only a high school diploma. This paper will argue that with a college degree you are more likely to get a higher paying job than without a degree. I will support this argument with multiple scholarly articles and other valid sources to further convince you.
It is not as easy as people say and think it is. It is more fun than how some people describe. The experience is beneficial for everyone to have. It has the potential to be a new start and the beginning of a bright future. It can bring a new career to an individual. Being a college student is what I’m talking about. There are a number of varying points of view on college.
A very common concern that faces many high school students today in the world is whether they go to college or not. There are many factors in whether a student is eligible to attend a college or not. They have to have enough money to cover the cost, prepare early, and choosing what they want to attend college for. These are some of the many issues that might occur when a student starts to think or plan on going to a college.
There is so much to be offered at ________________ University for people like me, such as intramural soccer and basketball, environmental and study clubs, and the honors college. As I’m not sure what career I’d like to pursue for the rest of my life, I’m excited to be able to explore my options in college. I am both eager and nervous to start the next chapter of my life down the unique path of my own choice. I know that what lies ahead of me may be new and scary, but I also know that if I stay true to myself and go with what I feel is best, there will always be hope in the distance no matter what choices I make. I try not to get caught up looking ahead in my future, letting my doubts and worries get to me too much. I set my goals high because I will not let anything or anyone convince me that I’m not good enough, smart enough, or experienced enough to achieve what I want to accomplish. I am determined to carve the path to my future unapologetically, and let the rest fall into
When we are young, we all have our own unique dreams and aspirations for what we wish to do when we are “older.” As we grow older, we begin to realize that some of our dreams are unattainable, while others are able to achieve their dreams. Whether one is the first person or the latter, we are spoon-fed the idea of attending college. We all hear how college is our “gateway to success,” and how “our entire lives depend on college.” Pressures bear down on high school students, telling them that they must attend college to be capable of anything in life. But people do not realize the detriments that are also associated with attending college. Students should not be pushed to attend colleges as there could be several factors that play in a student’s
Throughout the years, I have had to deal with many trials, and challenges. Growing up BI-racial had a big affect on both my parents’ relationship, my relationship with my parents (which later on lead to their separation). There were cultural clashes within my household; my mother who was from Korea, and my father who was from Panama. I had learned to depend on myself, my friends, and most importantly, on God.
There is a lot of pressure put on high school students to go to college. Junior and Senior year of high school all students hear is ‘where are you going to college’ and ‘what are you going to do with your life’. Such questions can be overwhelming and cause a lot of stress for students. It’s been put into everyone’s minds that in order to be successful you absolutely have to go to college and get a degree. Not every successful person went to college. The idea of college can put a lot of stress onto a person when they think it is the only way to be successful, but it is possible to be successful without a degree thus students should not be pressured into going to college as soon as they graduate high school.
Society tells us that after high school we must go to college and get a degree if we want to obtain success. For me going to college was the goal ever since I was a small child. Everyone in my family has gotten some form of post-secondary education. With a family like that ever Since the early ages of childhood as far I can remember my parents and family member were just always big on telling me I have to go to college to keep to better myself. After I graduated from high school the question in my house was not if I was going to go to college but instead where am I going to go to college. There was no question about if I was going to go to college or not. My parents made it clear that when august came around that year after I graduated from
Should United States culture aim toward ensuring that everyone goes to college? Yes, United States should encourage everyone to go to college because it helps people get out of poverty and people explore in a career that could shape their lives. Some of the people want to have a good job in life and have a good salary to change their future. Additionally, college can help you become more independent and successful in life. Unless the country is willing to more fully fund higher education for all, ensuring that everyone goes to college is a dream.
College is going to start my own life on a foot that is ready to leap because my career is going to take off right out of the gate. All-in-all I’m going to college for three main reasons. My immediate family is a reason because I want them to be proud of me for doing something right for once. My future family is also one because it’s a big part of my life that I want to be happy and always feel comfortable. Finally for my personal financial well-being, so I can be able to treat myself to all the luxuries I want for myself. Going back to line one, all of these things are a part of my future. Isn’t that what college is for after all, to prepare people for their own futures and what they bring? A university is not my future, it’s only the beginning of it.
Growing people always dream about going to college. They think that after finishing high school automatically comes college. But the question is do they realize the value of having a college education, or they just go because someone told so, or maybe this how it goes. People now days don’t really know how value having a college education is. “Education is most powerful weapon which people can use to change the world”. (Mandala). Having a college degree could provide more opportunity’s and knowledge for people to strive and become more active in their community’s and help people in their own fields like having a dotora and lawyer, or even a policemen. According to the harry van Arsdale Jr center for labor studies on their article redefining a college education “They said that in today’s hypermarketzed society, college is often viewed as an individual
