This time period in American history is one of the most misunderstood periods. The lectures, movies, and readings have given me a whole new perspective of the era. It has been truly eye opening. Before the readings, I thought that the Sixties was simply about doing harmful drugs, partying, and wearing weird outfits. The readings by Wolfe, King, Leary, etc. have made me realize that the Sixties was more than just what I had believed. It has made me learn life-lessons that I will be able to use in my life. One of the important things that I have learned is how harmful LSD, or acid, is to the human body.
Previously, I believed that acid was extremely harmful to the body; I believed it was more dangerous than alcohol and marijuana and as dangerous as cocaine. Also, I thought that acid was a natural drug but the readings and the class has thought me the history of LSD. It is kind of amazing to figure out that a person’s findings can have a huge impact on the world and for the generations to come.
