Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation:
One of the major tasks that teachers must undertake during teaching is identifying students who demonstrate high or low motivation in some learning activities. Generally, motivated students are involved in learning activities with intensity and feeling while the unmotivated ones tend to postpone and demonstrate their interests in other things through various ways. As a teacher in a classroom of 20 students, the students have varying academic and social skills levels. Some of the students are very good in all subjects while others are good in mathematics but have difficulties in reading well whereas others are good readers but not very competent in mathematics. The other characteristic of this classroom is that a few of the students have difficulties with nearly every subject. Consequently, there is need to apply various principles of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation as well as using technology and instructional interventions to help various students with learning difficulties.
Applying Different Principles of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation:
Some of the students in this classroom require the application of different principles of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to enhance their engagement in learning activities and class work. Sarah does not sit in her seat, tends to wander around the room, and influences other students to start wandering once she starts. On the other hand, George sometimes gets out of control, strikes out at other students or the teacher, and throws his papers and books on the floor. Sarah and George need the application of principles of intrinsic motivation because they would help them to become curious, seek for knowledge and improvement, and become satisfie...

...assroom (Koeze, 2007). Based on this theory, the intervention does not allow students to do whatever they want but about knowing the students and preparing learning activities accordingly while implementing best practices.
In conclusion, teaching and learning is a multi-faceted process that requires teachers to develop appropriate learning activities and assignments that promote effective learning. Some of the major elements teachers should address include intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, especially for students with varying difficulties in the learning process. In a classroom of students who differ greatly in academic and social skills levels, the teacher should apply principles of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, use technology appropriately, and utilize effective instructional intervention for each student to promote effective learning for all students.
Celtic Gaul and Capetian/Valois France were similar in many different ways. Both, for the most part, occupied a large part of modern-day France. Both Gaul and the Capetians/Valois were very involved with foreign relations and were actively involved in invasions: both as invaders and invades. In this research paper, the political, social, economic and religious aspects of life in Celtic Gaul and Capetian/Valois France will be examined. In addition, notable leaders in each system will be examined, including many of the kings of the Capetian Dynasty and the House of Valois. The first half of this paper will cover the life and times of Celtic Gaul, which will include topics such as the Druids, civitates, the Romans and the religious aspects of the period. The second half of this paper will include the lineage and dynasties of the Capetian and Valois dynasties, as well as topics such as feudalism, the economics of the ruling classes, Catholicism, the Pope, and the church as a whole.
Student motivation is affected by many variables including past experience, peers, home life, classroom and school expectations, and teacher behavior. This adds to the complexity of studying motivation, and adds to the difficulty teachers face when addressing issues relevant to promoting st...

The practices in the article closely align with the ideas of leading researchers in the field of assessment. Concluding the article by classifying the seven practices into three of Marzano’s (1992) factors that influence student motivation to learn strengthens the validity of the article’s message even more. In conclusion, I would recommend this article to any educator possessing a sincere desire to impact student
Motivation is an integral part of teaching in order to improve student learning. Motivation is defined as an internal state that arouses, directs, and maintains behavior (Woolfolk, 2013, p. 430). As H.W. Beecher said, “God made man to go by motives, and he will not go without them any more than a boat without steam or a balloon without gas. Find out what motivates man, touch that button to turn the key that makes men achieve” (Williams et. Al, 2015). As a teacher, I will need to evaluate and adapt the motivation theory to ensure all students are learning at higher levels.
Pintrich and DeGroot (1990) investigated the effect of motivation orientation and self-regulated learning on academic ability. One hundred and seventy three seventh grade students from a school in Michigan were recruited. The Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) was used to measure use of learning strategies, intrinsic value and self-regulation. Additionally, previous classroom assignments indicated academic performance. A positive relationship between intrinsic motivation and self-regulated learning was recorded. Furthermore, academic performance was reported to be directly influenced by intrinsic motivation. Although Pintrich and DeGroot (1990) examined the link between motivational orientation and use of self-regulated learning strategies, the results may not be inferred to different populations. As the average age of participants was twelve years and six months, the findings cannot be generalised to college students due to the potential influence of age on the variables
Motivation can be defined as one’s direction and action to behavior. To be motivated means to be moved to do something (Ryan & Deci, 2000), also a person who feels activated and ambitious toward an end is considered motivated, whereas someone who feels inspiration to do something is characterized as unmotivated. Rather, there are different kinds of motivation, such as extrinsic motivation, intrinsic motivation and amotivation. In this article, the dominant areas I would like to research are about extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, which directly related to students’ performance in school.
In my teaching, I use the principles of active and cooperative learning. As a teacher I encourage students to understand concepts and apply them to problems, rather than simply memorize information. I have observed that the students’ motivation is the highest when I incorporate real-world examples in lectures and laboratory instructions. Most impor...
“Motivation is a complex part of human psychology and behavior that influences how individuals choose to invest their time, how much energy they exert in any given task, how they think and feel about the task, and how long they persist at the task” (Urdan & Schoenfelder, 2006). The biggest question educators face in today’s classroom is what motivates a student to do something and why? Virtually all students are motivated in one way or another. Research of student motivation suggests a theory that emphasizes a social-cognitive perspective. The cognition of students regarding academic work are influenced by social factors, such as messages from the teacher about the difficulty of the task, the perceived abilities of classmates, and the information about the importance of learning the material (Urdan & Schoenfelder, 2006). In this paper the focus will primarily be on those elements within the classroom that influence student motivation and engagement.
The traditional forms of teaching include a formal classroom setting, books, lecture, notes, homework, and attendance. The traditional teaching method is one-way; the teacher lectures to the students and the students take notes. The students all have the classroom book that they read from and the teacher gives homework for the students to do. The teacher takes attendance every day and the students’ attendance affects the overall grade for the class. The advantages of this teaching method are; it is easy to teach many students at the same time, it is systematic, and it provides a basic approach to teaching. The disadvantages of this method are; the students may not get enough individual attention and the students may not learn the information with this method. This traditional teaching method is a good way to teach many students at the same time. However, some students might not feel comfortable asking questions in this setting. For this reason, some students might get behind or stop attending classes. One of the advantages of this formal teaching method is that it is systematic. It is an easy method to follow because it is a simple format; the teacher lectures and the students listen, the teacher gives homework and the students do it, and the teacher g...
A common ground can be derived from all four of the perspectives relating to the broad spectrum of strategies to motivate students. By providing a positive atmosphere at home as well as in the school, a student develops the desire to succeed in the classroom, and later, utilizes this motivation to succeed in life.
To a certain extent it can be said that without a sense of motivation, whether it be intrinsic or extrinsic, a child’s ability to learn and reach their potential is greatly lessened. Motivation is best described as an internal state that not only arouses and directs behaviour but also helps to maintain it (Woolfolk & Margetts, 2013). Motivation not only plays a large role in a child’s learning ability, it also shapes a student’s interests and enjoyment of school and study (Martin, 2003). For both pre-service teachers and expert teachers it is easy to see that if a student possesses high motivation to learn, their behaviour towards their school work is more positive and in turn leads to higher academic success, whereas a student with little to no motivation will exhibit negative behavi...
For more than 60000 years, Aboriginal people have been lived with in the land called “Australia” with out invasion from outside world. However, from 1788 when European first came and settled on the land of Aboriginal as their new habitation which change the Aboriginal people life in many ways. The purpose of this report is to research and discuss about changing of Aboriginal people life after the arrival of the first fleet of European in 1788. This report will discuss the changing of the Aboriginal life from 1788 to 1901, which includes dispossession and protectionism. It will also highlight the struggle for right and freedom of Aboriginal people from 1901 to the present including Assimilation, Integration and Self-determination. In addition, it will identify role and achievement of Chatty Freeman and who influence Aboriginal’s culture to the forefront of society.
Many of the class room activities that a teacher wants students to do are not necessarily in themselves interesting or enjoyable therefore, using more active and volitional forms of extrinsic motivation such as electronic media sources are effective strategies for successful teaching (Ryan & Deci, 2000). Ryan and Deci (2000) proposed a Self Determination Theory (SDT) in order
Motivation is really important tool in a learning environment. Also motivation effects student learning and their behavior as well. It directs behavior towards particular targets. Also it effect the decision which students takes. In motivation mainly we have two types which is intrinsically and extrinsically being motivated. For example: when a student is intrinsically motivated they just do it for themselves not because of the reward that they will get back. It’s just because they have their own interest and they enjoy doing that. On the other side, when a student is extrinsically motivated they just do it for the reward that they will get. That’s why in learning process it’s important that each student should
