Recommended: Economic impacts of tourism in the Pacific islands

About Unesco World Heritage

In this world, there are many beautiful historical places. Some of them are classified as Unesco World Heritage sites and many tourists or visitors are interested in them. Because the world realizes how beautiful they are only when they become Unesco World Heritage sites, they become more popular travel spots. We think that for a place to be classified as a Unesco World Heritage sites are big award and that tells people all over the world that they should visit. Also, this title guarantees the protection of the World cultural and Natural Heritage agreement.
I used to live in the Ogasawara islands in Japan that became Unesco World Heritage sites about 3 years ago. And I have seen many differences in this place as how it changed to became more popular for tourists. I lived in the Ogasawara islands from 2012 to 2013. Since my father was born in that island, I visited there as my second hometown as a little child. A few years ago, when I talked to the people about the Ogasawara islands, nobody knew where it located, how beautiful it is and how to get there. We could only get there by boat it takes 25 hours and 30 minutes from Tokyo. And the boat departs from the mainland to the island at 10:00 am only once a week. But nobody knows there are some place like that in Japan. When I arrived there in 2012, it has been seven years since I visited. The island changed a lot. After classified as a Unesco World Heritage that had good effect for the island. For many years, the increase in tourist industry was difficult. Because of transportation costs are high and it's inconvenient. But after they became a Unesco World heritage, the town of the island is always...

...to offshore. And don’t go out to shopping. So tourist industry improving gave to local people irregular daily life.
For solution of these problem, we should learn more about the place first, before visiting. So we can know about the roles of the island for tourists. Second of all we should follow the roles in the places. It is the most important and what we can really do. And if we follow these roles, environment may not be destroyed. Finally, we should give more respect for the local people. And better to keep in mind that even you are just visiting, local people has daily life in there. They worked hard to keep a beautiful nature for future generations. If we can understand more about the place where we visiting, we can have more fun without destroying environment. Also local people might be much happier to live in the place where became Unesco World Heritage.
