Elias Howe, who also was the inventor of the sewing machine, received a patent in 1851 for an "Automatic, Continuous Clothing Closure." Although it never was marketed, it is the humble predecessor of what is known as the " Zipper" today. Over sixty years later, in 1913 Gideon Sundback's, an electrical engineer at the Universal Fastener Company in Chicago, developed a new system that increased the number of fastening elements, or teeth that were opened and closed with a slider. It was patented as the "Separable Fastener" was issued in 1917. In the 1930's the zipper was first used in children's clothing and by 1937 men's trousers. It is this assembly line process the has been used over and over again to produce goods at a rapid, cost effect pace. The assembly line would later be redesigned again to utilize robots and automation in place of human labor. It is because of this production line assembly that I drive affordable for me. By the 21st century, several manufacturers saw the potential of Bluetooth and began to incorporate them into the designs of their products, mobile phones, and computers. This device outperformed the competition and was a huge success. Even though the price for this topped almost $400.00 it was sold off the shelf in less than a day and was on backorder for months. Once an item thought to only be used for the pleasure of reading novels and books, it is now used for textbooks also. If I want to study for this class but forget or do not want to lug my book around, it is on my kindle and I can read it from work, at the beach or at the library. Spotify is used to stream music in general or with certain plans you can build your own personal playlist of music. No longer do you need to carry an iPod or listen to the random music on the radio. You can use Spotify for free but will have to listen to commercials. If you wish to upgrade your account you can do so by paying for the service and eliminating the commercials.
