“They say God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.” This, lyrics from the Intro of her album, justifies how Kehlani, an artist from Oakland, the third largest city in the Bay Area, have put in so much effort and hard work to be able to set herself apart and stand out from all the other aspiring singers. In this album, entitled You Should Be Here, is not just any typical album that talks about drugs, having a sexual intercourse, or making money. Rather, this album features the idea of self- love. She is not just some random pretty face but also embodies someone who is a great story teller and a great singer with a great soothing voice, which makes her such an exemplary …show more content…
For example, in "The Letter," Kehlani refuses to name the subject until the very last possible moment in the song. "Your words were supposed to get me through my heart ache," Kehlani sings. "Maybe I didn't deserve you. Maybe I just couldn't cure you." It’s a cutting and very heartbreaking turn of phrase that readers can feel while listening to her music even just through the lyrics. This could definitely describe betrayal or disappointment that she had gone through. Until she suddenly narrows it down into a more details, halfway through the song as she revealed who it was for: "every girl needs a mother." “Bright,” the next track after, is quite different as it encourages motivation to listeners and to show that each and every individual is unique and has their own beauty that no one can take. Furthermore, "Wanted" describes a newly-found connection and shows inspiration and determination, which possibly talks about fresh love. The words and tunes used sets a slights uplift atmosphere which definitely fits the message of the lyrics, “I was chosen… found my lows and made them high, so much storm to clear my skies I don't think I can deny.” As a result, Kehlani shows that there's still courage in holding back, as she made the choice of keeping things

Looking back on the dazzling and male-dominant world of music in the Sixties and Seventies, there stood a petite woman who was especially eye-catching. Janis Joplin, the female icon of the Sixties’ counterculture, conquered millions of audiences with her confidence, sexiness, straightforwardness, hoarse voice, and electrifying on-stage performance. To this day, no one can ever compare with her. She is thus known as the greatest white female rock and blues singer. Not only has her flabbergasting singing style innovated the music in the Sixties and Seventies, Janis Joplin herself is also character with most controversial and interesting characteristics.
Everyone grows old, right? The poems To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick and To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell both have messages about life, time, and how they interact. Through their differences in tone, imagery and exquisite word choice, the two authors achieve virtually the same idea two different ways.
This darkly satiric poem is about cultural imperialism. Dawe uses an extended metaphor: the mother is America and the child represents a younger, developing nation, which is slowly being imbued with American value systems. The figure of a mother becomes synonymous with the United States. Even this most basic of human relationships has been perverted by the consumer culture. The poem begins with the seemingly positive statement of fact 'She loves him ...’. The punctuation however creates a feeling of unease, that all is not as it seems, that there is a subtext that qualifies this apparently natural emotional attachment. From the outset it is established that the child has no real choice, that he must accept the 'beneficence of that motherhood', that the nature of relationships will always be one where the more powerful figure exerts control over the less developed, weaker being. The verb 'beamed' suggests powerful sunlight, the emotional power of the dominant person: the mother. The stanza concludes with a rhetorical question, as if undeniably the child must accept the mother's gift of love. Dawe then moves on to examine the nature of that form of maternal love. The second stanza deals with the way that the mother comforts the child, 'Shoosh ... shoosh ... whenever a vague passing spasm of loss troubles him'. The alliterative description of her 'fat friendly features' suggests comfort and warmth. In this world pain is repressed, real emotion pacified, in order to maintain the illusion that the world is perfect. One must not question the wisdom of the omnipotent mother figure. The phrase 'She loves him...' is repeated. This action of loving is seen as protecting, insulating the child. In much the same way our consumer cultur...
...e overcame that. As expressed in the journal, Rihanna had many thoughts on her mind and was going through so much stress but she still had the power to gain her strength and confidence to overcome her obstacles. Critics believe that Rihanna is trying to discover herself and figure out who she really is as a person. I believe Rihanna is just putting on a act and is fooling everybody so she can make that money.

There was another thing that she had stated which was ,”In these tough life moments, music can be a constructive way to express who you are and what you are feeling. If you are feeling particularly sad about a reality in your life, listen to a song that connects you to that emotion. If you are anxious, turn up the volume in your living room and dance around. If you are angry, grab a pillow and hit is as hard as you can while listening to your favorite lyrics.” This is indeed a fact that most of us would agree because either the tone or even the lyrics can make up who and how the person is like. For example like if a person song had kinda a sad tone to it , it would definitely have sad lyrics in the song that the singer is singing. If the tone is more of a happy tone then it would probably have happy lyrics on how the person feels on this event that have happened in their life. But most people are thought of mostly on how their songs are like even how their lyrics in the songs they sing makes what they
her parents. After I read and re-read and re-read the article “I Stand Here Writing”, it is clearly to see the opinion that the author wants to show us, as a writer, it’s important and necessary to use a different way to think, it will help you to find new characteristics and traits so that we could obtain inspiration to write, and sometimes when we need to compare two things, it help to find new traits and discover the relationship between different experience, ideas that seems unrelated.
Towards the beginning of the production, there is a scene when the teenage girl is speaking to her mother and tells her that she thinks about death sometimes. After she asks this question, her mother ignores her, but then the teenage girls begins to talk about how she is getting older and that she will fall in love adventually. Then, after she talked about these ideas to her mother a song begins which to me has a lot of emotion. The song talk about how her mother was the one that raised her and that she wants to know more about life and to not feel sheltered from the idea of reality. This stood out to me the most because I am a teenager and I am still learning everything about life and the way that reality

Keats’s “When I Have Fears” and Longfellow’s “Mezzo Cammin” present contemplative speakers that reflect on the subject on the inevitability of their deaths and whether their lives have been fully fulfilled. Both poets display similar structure and utilize similes and metaphors to represent their lives in order to explore their views on their deaths; however, their attitudes towards the subject differ significantly.
French-Canadian singer Celine Dion possesses a voice that is ethereal and crisp as much as it is moving and powerful. Distinctive in its power and charm, the French-Canadian songstress wields a voice that not only transcends time and genre, but her voice, in all its rich, chill-inducing glory, has also helped her etched her presence among the great voices of our era, making her a legend in her own rights. Critic or fan, avid listener or peripheral observer, Celine Dion’s knack for expressing profound emotions through her ethereal yet powerful sound cannot be overlooked. The poem “Warned’ by Sylvia Stults, first seems to be about the ways human are hurting nature. However, when we look at the poem through the lens of John Shoptaw’s essay “Why Ecopoetry,” we see the evidence that this is an ecopoem and is asking people to take action to protect the environment. The poem is about the destruction of earth. The poet also tries to raises some awareness about the environment. Additionally, the internal meaning of the poem is that we, humans depend on the world’s resources, therefore we should take care of the natural world.
