The health and wellness market in South Korea is continuing to grow. This is largely due to the ongoing wellbeing trend and diversified product portfolios. A smart trend was dissembled in 2010, with people increasingly making purchases based on value or quality of health and wellness products. This means that consumers were willing to buy typical health and wellness product such as organic, natural and functional goods at best prices. By the end of 2009 an economic recovery started which allowed people to pay more to join fitness club, buy high end active wear, and eat wellbeing foods. In the Wellbeing Industry a health syndrome has brought about a trend of momjjang (person who has a sculpted body) Jung Da-yan has become a famous star of “momjjang” which is a person who has gotten back to a healthy and slim body such as an ordinary ajjumma (middle-aged married woman). This is a mother of two children and she has been exercising for five years. The wellbeing boom is not just a social and cultural trend in Korea. It has stimulated some industries to relate to their quality of life. There are many magazines that represent the wellbeing lifestyle and are published with companies related to leisure, beauty, yoga, meditation, and health care show accelerated the growth in the wellbeing boom. The fitness trend was started by Park Ji-sun, editor-in-chief of the well-being magazine “ALLURE” which states that wellbeing culture, to some extent, is being used commercially. Fitness trend is being seen as a new cultural code which values health. Koreans value wellbeing on how to keep trim and maintain discipline in their culture. This has become essential regardless of age, gender and job in the most recent years. Growing number of Koreans have been imposing self-discipline on themselves to maintain their best state of mind and body, consistently by exercising for their health and well-being. Yoga and Pilates are workout regimens are pursued by Koreans who are leading in keeping up with the wellbeing trend. Numerous of celebrities have released yoga DVDs with their high level of expertise. A setting trend now is the number of men engaging in yoga and Pilates has increased over the last few years. In Korea inside most Yoga studios, women and men are picking up mats and sitting down to get ready for an hour-and- twenty-minutes class. They use sunny weather and soft music in the background to calm tensions and relaxing the body.
