The introduction to Yaswantie’s interview could have gone more smoothly. I jumped right into the interview after asking her how she was. I could have explained that I would be asking her a few questions about her college experience and I could have also explained to her that if she ever felt uncomfortable with a question, she didn’t have to answer it. She would have probably felt more comfortable during the interview. However, when I interviewed Basmatie, I made sure to mention what I was interested in learning about and that she didn’t have to answer any questions that made her feel comfortable. The question that I executed well in Yaswantie’s interview was, “Is there anything that you find difficult or worry about while attending college?” It revealed what she found difficult and what was important to her. One of the things that she found most difficult was time management. As a mother who worked full time, she had to find time to do her homework, study for tests, and have time for her family. Even though she struggles to find time for all those things, she is determined to get good grades. …show more content…

Prior to asking the question, she said, “I have contracts with cabin companies and I don’t decide when the cabins are rented out. Some days, I’ll have 6 cabins, other days I won’t have any.” If I had paid more attention to what she said, I could have asked her to focus on a specific day like I did later in the interview. I didn’t make any inferences based on what she said. On different days, she has different cabins to clean and the number of cabins are also different.
