Hello there fellow aspiring writers, and welcome to the first session of script writing tips for sims machinama. It's a real treat to watch a script you wrote be turned into an episode/film/part of a series for the first time. It's even better when that script carries over well to that visual adaptation and makes one hell of an awesome first episode/part that those watching will enjoy. So, how do we do that? Simply start off by following a few simple basics:

-When starting a series you want the material to be something you are passionate about, a topic/idea that fascinates you and provides the potential to be something others will be interested in aswell. Every series start with an idea or inspiration from a book, movie, t.v. show, anime, etc. Once you have that topic, it's time to plan. There's been many times I've seen a series that had such potential simply go down the drain due to lack of planning.

It is important to create complex, progressive characters. Characters should speak with intent and purpose. You can establish who a character is through tone and what they say. You can also reveal character through thoughts and background information. Not all characters have to have an origin; they can just be there. Movie makers have agendas. They get their ideas across by using cinematic techniques and styles which make us view a certain subject in the light that they put it in. I will discuss the differing techniques used by the makers of "Stepping Razor" and describe what the overall impression of the movie has on the viewer, and what the agenda of the director is.

This short script THE TWILIGHT ZONE pays homage to Rod Serling and to the classic Twilight Zone series. The script easily engages the audience and pulls them into the world of the protagonist Martin Slone. Like the Twilight Zone, the tone is ominous. There are many twists and turns with a classic ironic ending in the spirit of the Twilight Zone or even an Alfred Hitchcock traditional film.
While the message is loud and clear and the themes strong, the overall script would benefit from more development. The areas to discuss include the structure and the style of storytelling, the tension, and the pace, as well as further character development.
