This semester has gone by too fast. It seems like just yesterday was the first day of class. Although it appeared to be a very short semester, I learned a good amount of writing principles. I’ve never even heard of some of the information I took in. Overall, Comp 1 has informed me on a lot of writing rules and procedures that I can use in my future career. Some of the topics I learned about were Freitag 's Triangle, the writing process, MLA formatting, and written numbers. In process analysis papers, writers use a process called Freitag’s Triangle. This procedure contains an introduction, hook, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. The introduction informs the reader what the paper is going to be about. To attract the reader 's attention, a hook is placed in the introduction. A climax is then added to compose excitement in the story. The rising action leads up to the climax. Lastly the falling action and resolution concludes the paper. It resolves any conflict and ends the story. This system only applies to drama. Novel’s can use this procedure many times. In fiction, the author is call the narrator, but in poetry, the author is called the speaker. I also learned that there are certain characteristics that make up a process analysis paper. Formatting was vital in all papers. There has to be one inch margins all around the edge of every paper. Each paragraph has to be indented one half inch. The paper needs to be double spaced and have a page number in the top right corner of each page. Also this is where the last name of the author needs to be on every page, right before the page number. The font size always needs to be twelve and the text should be in Arial or Times New Romans.
