After completing my infographic for project four, there are many things to reflect upon. As I worked on this project, many things became important to me. These include the audience, choice of wording and sentences, and how much information to include. The audience is very important because you want to portray your information to those who are interested in it and what matters to them. I had to keep the audience in mind so that it could relate to who I was trying to get my point across to. In this case, my audience was anyone who uses water, which is everybody in the world. The choice of wording and sentence structure was also important to me because I realized I needed to use short and more simple sentences, instead of long, boring sentences. …show more content…
Before I started the reflection writing, I made sure I had completely finished my infographic first. I did not want to go back and have to change something and have to re-reflect later. The reflection process itself came easy to me. I like reflecting on my work, so the material constraint was not an issue for me. Based on my audience and the message I wanted to send, I started by thinking what would be most important to them and why my idea mattered. In my first block, I made it clear that there was an idea of running out, but left it for the audience to question what we are running out of. That leads the audience to want to find out more and be interested enough to continue …show more content…
The audience has become most important because the whole point of an infographic or any information is to appeal to the audience. You have to consider what will matter to them and how to get their attention. If you do not consider those things, the audience will not have any interest in reading what you are trying to convey to them. The information you use has also become important to me in this composing process. If you say the wrong thing or use the wrong facts, the audience might have doubts in what you are saying and not be interested in what you have
Before an author begins composing a body of work, there are three requirements necessary to establish beforehand. The composer must first “have a specific purpose and an audience”( Braziller, Kleinfeld, 7). A purpose allows there to be an overall reason to write. The purpose is necessary to persuade, inform, educate, or entertain the reader on a certain topic. The topic can be caused by "the time period, location, current event, or cultural significance (University, 1995-2018 )”. Identifying the audience is necessary since it instructs the composer how to communicate in a way the audience will appreciate and understand. Knowing how the audience will best understand the information gives the composer an advantage when trying to communicate the
The audience of a paper effects the entire tone and feel of it. When I first wrote the rhetorical analysis essay I considered my audience as the professor. I assumed this because she would be the one reading the essay. My assumption caused me to omit details and kept my writing too formal. By revising my audience, it allows for a larger scope of focus for the essay. Once I figured out that my audience was my peers the essay flowed much better. For example, I explained the idea of logos and other types of appeals. After I had revised my audience the essay began to sound and flow
My infographic is about some of the side effects Veterans come home with. In my infographic, it contains four charts. The charts my infographic contains are, a pie chart containing information about PTSD, a swatch chart with holding information about alcoholism, a triangle bar that has information about drug/ medication abuse, and a horizontal bar graph that encloses information about the number suicides.
Reflection I changed a lot of things from the rough draft to this. In the beginning, I only had about two pages. Most of this was because I didn’t have all my main points organized.
Unit 1 taught me to focus on each step in the writing process. Approaching the task
Writing is a process I’ve grown to despise. Ever since grade school, I’ve had problems trying to express my ideas on paper. My writing process involves thinking about what’s being asked and trying to reflect my thoughts the best way I can on paper, but my thoughts don’t always come out as clear as I want them to be sometimes leaving a question not fully answered. My writing process isn’t a consistent set in stone process, but since being in ENC 1101 I always follow some of the same parameters such as revising my drafts, grammar usage and considering context and audience.
Reflection is a key element of the human learning process. It can be used to justify aspects of practice and legitimise the knowledge gained from it, as opposed to traditional forms of learning.
Every writer has his or her own way to knock out a paper. Whether it is a two-in-the-morning-due-the-next-day paper or a well thought out commodities paper for economics. The habits and techniques used are the same. When I begin revising my writing, I start by finding a few people to peer review my work. It is always a good idea to have a fresh set of eyes looking over my paper. Some of the aspects they decide to change are not always what is best for my paper, so I compare it with other peers.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for all the efforts that you have invested in helping me improve my writing throughout this course. The exertions which you devoted in me did not go in vain. Throughout this semester, I have become more insightful in regard to the process of writing as a whole. Who knew that writing can be challenging yet rewarding simultaneously? Through many challenges encountered in this class and many exercises comprised in this course, I was exposed to new writing process, audiences, and I became more inclined to taking risks in the art of writing. As the semester took form, I came to find myself careworn by certain elements of the writing process. Unlike many writers, beginning to write,
Reflection within early year’s settings and schools allows for the practitioner to think about the work that is being completed either whilst doing it or after it has occurred, the reflection allows for seeing how the work has gone or whether it needs to be changed for future practice. Schön is a key writer about reflection and illustrates the differences between reflection in action, reflection on action and reflection whilst completing the task. The above critical skills help all practitioners to develop understanding as they hugely impact on others lives, if this skill is not engaged in then practice could be effected (Leeson, 2004).
Another purpose for writing is to inform. Information is power. In today’s society people need a lot of information to perform, thus making information qui...
This brings us to the two factors that influence an audience when presenting information through a media: the vividness of presentation and the position of a story (Baran 302). These factors, along with others, induce the audience to feel as if a particul...
This week had the biggest impact on my professional growth. During this week, I learned that meaningful reflection is " the practice or act of analyzing our actions, decisions, or products by focusing on our process of achieving them (York-Barr, Sommers, Ghere & Montie, 2006). There are many benefits of reflecting in the field of education. The most influential is the effect that reflection has on the learning that your students gain. If a teacher meaningfully reflects on their practices they will create lessons to better impact students. According to Carol Ann Tomlinson (2003), “Teacher reflection inevitably attends directly to students ' need for affirmation, contribution, power, purpose, and challenge.” Each time a teacher reflects on their work, they empower their students to learn more. Students recognize their teacher’s reflection and mimic their behavior. I feel like learning about reflection impacted me most because it showed me that I should reflect on the good and the bad. Everything that I teach should be reflected on. The more that I reflect on my work, I will be closer to becoming an expert teacher. Reflection has the biggest impact on professionalism as a teacher. If I am willing to learn from my strengths and mistakes I will impact my students to strive to the best they
An important part of decision making is having a clear understanding of the information used to base decisions from. Charts can be valuable when a need to represent numerical data would benefit communicating information visually. Some of the most important aspects of a good chart are to select the right type of chart (or graph) that can best characterize the data, also, to keep the design simple in order for an audience to easily understand the information.
Infographics are so popular because audiences can absorb the information quickly and conveniently. It today’s hectic, fast-paced world, anything that is quick and convenient is seen as desirable.
