Writing Project 3: Film The idea of our country being separated into different districts and being forced to pick random children and have them fight to the death is very farfetched. But the concept of poverty, war, separation, and famine are so very easy to grasp. The Hunger Games presents each of these things in the movie and makes its audience understand and start thinking that this story line could possibly happen in reality. The idea that people are struggling on many different levels, both the people of Panem and the ones living in America. Panem and our society today have many similarities. There are many differences and similarities in survival, punishment, physical appearance, and control in Panem that is also seen in today's world. Although The Hunger Games and Panem are not real, the ideas and things presented in the movie could possibly happen. That idea is what draws the viewer in and has people really thinking about where our society is headed. Struggle is an important part of Panem and the world we live in today. In the movie District 12 struggles the most with food. It is almost unbearable. In the world today families all over the globe are fighting hunger. Many children are dying from hunger because food is so scarce. According to the World Food Program "One out of every six people in the world today is hungry." In the movies Panem is seen to have many starving people. Panem shows the split between the wealthy and the poor districts. The wealthy being seen as having more than enough food and the poor barely staying alive. This is seen in our world today. Countries that are wasting and throwing out tons and tons of food, when others are starving and dying because they are unable to find or afford any at all. T... ... middle of paper ... ... kill anyone and anything to maintain power and control over the districts and the people living in them. That can be seen in our world today with our presidents, and leaders. Hitler having total control over a large amount of people, forcing and killing as many people as he needed to, to ensure he remained in power. Our world is evolving every day, but the concepts of Struggle, physical appearance, punishments, and control are similar to those seen in Panem from the Hunger Games. The idea that the Hunger Games is not real, but very relatable is what scares a lot of people. There is chance that some of the things in the movie could happen in real life, and some of the things being portrayed have happened, or are happening is what makes the movie so relatable. The idea that our world could end up like Panem is scary, and it makes the movie all the more interesting.
