Being a college student can be somewhat of a challenge. There are many assignments that require different guidelines to follow, in order to get full credit. It may be difficult to edit papers without additional support and even looking for articles to cite for your paper. It is a quite nice, which made it easier to accomplish my assignments. When I needed to print out a paper for a class, I would use the printer available at the library. There were times, I would even scan or copy documents that were job related. When professors assigned group projects, it became challenging trying to find a location where members of the group can meet and complete the assignment. Another service the library offers is the group study room. Students and facility are able to reserve the room for academic purposes.
Enrolled as an out-of-state student living in a different state, makes it nearly impossible to continue and use the services the library offers only on campus. This does not stop me from using the library as a resource. There are many services that the libaray offers to students online as well. The libaray database can be accessed at any location just by typing your name and nine hundred number. Most of my health care management classes require to look up articles. One of the things that I have learned is how to use different resources at college. One of the resources is the library. Since the library is closed right now I learned how to use the online library. I did not know how to use the library website at first, and know I know how to use it better. I use the website for almost all my classes. I use it for finding articles, and doing research. I think this resource will be the most helpful to me, because I can use the online resources to find articles, books, movies, and music. If I need to do research on a topic, I can always request a book and check it out from the library. The COL 101 class has also helped me with my future.
I was fortunate to attend two amazing institutions with incredible programs, Centralia College and Washington State University Vancouver. Centralia College provided me with an opportunity to demonstrate the strength of my skills through a six month research based project with the goal of improving training at the Writing Center. Writing is a tool that is universally known and used as a primary source of communication. It is a process that is taught, practiced, and perfected throughout the course of one’s life. The process of learning to write begins in your early school years and continues to develop all the way through high school, college, and even beyond college. However, once you get to college writing tends to become a little bit more challenging and is typically more articulate. Writing can help you gain more knowledge and also help you to explore and discover new ideas. In terms of college writing, it is the process of being able to express your thoughts and ideas in an intellectual and effective way.
For the entirety of my undergraduate career I had the distinct ability to successfully write research papers, critical essays and journal entries. On the whole I feel that my writing was successful due to the fact that I received excellent grades as well as glowing comments of support from my professors. Please understand that I am not boasting about my grade point average, class rank or even attempting to claim that I am a good writer. However, I do feel confident in my abilities to write papers that speak directly to the question at hand while simultaneously addressing, although not necessarily adhering to, the professor’s point of interest. I must credit much of my success as an undergraduate to Mr. M of the High School English Department. My outlook on academic writing was drastically altered during the fall of 1997 with the help of Mr. M and a writing course entitled College Prep II.
Over the years of my schooling, I have gradually developed my writing preparation to help me become a better writer. I continue to find ways to improve my writing abilities by working on my weaknesses and by incorporating the feedback I receive from my peers and my instructors into my essays. At times, I still struggle when preparing to start my essay, but with precise and organized planning and obtaining the help of others, I am certain that I will become more proficient in my writing
Every animal on the planet is capable of communicating, be it verbally, physically, or possibly by some means yet discovered. Writing on the other hand is a form of communication exclusive to human beings (and maybe the occasional ape). Children are taught to read and write almost as soon as they can speak. Writing becomes a part of everyday life, and because of this it is easy to forget that writing "is a means of "communication [one] must consciously learn" (Heffernan and Lincoln 3). When we talk about English 1110, everyone actually knows the main part of the course is writing. The goal of this class is to improve structural, style of writing, thoughts and performances of students. During this semester, the curriculum includes essays and topics from many different aspects of different issues which are useful to me. From this class, I had the opportunity to improve my writing skills. For example, before writing a paper, I always have outline, strategies, arranging and modifying as well as finding ideas to improve my writing style in a better way. Before taking English 1101, I just wrote essay with what I think of that time and did not care whether my essay is understandable or not; however, i have been improved for the past three months. When I see a title, I start to write down all ideas and also create an outline and order of all documents in a reasonable manner. In addition, all response papers that I have done during this semester I started to have different way of thinking by listening my friend's arguments, feedbacks or comments, agreements or disagreements. Those group activities from friends were helpful because I started to recognize what are right and wrong things in my essay. From there, I have my own personal opinions and defend my arguments.
An academic library is a part of service organization whose primary role is to promote excellence in curricular and co-curricular programmer by way of providing easy and convenient access to documents and information contained in document. Library services for students have never been as important for students as they are today. In this age of information explosion and changes frontiers of educational scenario calls for access to the knowledge and lifelong learning and literacy skills to develop potentialities with the studies.
Students in Eleventh Grade College Preparatory English classes will be able to read a writing prompt and understand what it is asking them to do. They will demonstrate this by being able to restate the prompt into a topic sentence and articulate their response with an appropriate thesis statement. In addition they will be able to organize their paper and support their ideas with evidence from the text provided.
In the beginning of this course on English and writing, I was a little trepidatious, but also quite excited. I have always struggled with writing, so I did not know how well I would perform in this class. At the same time, I was also looking forward to what I could learn, appreciating the thought that my writing could improve by taking a college English course. Indeed, the skills that I have learned during this class have improved my academic writing, and have allowed me to discover areas to develop further.
A 24-hour library can be convenient for students to benefit from the library resources at all hours. Students can operate the school computers to accomplish late minute typing or research, giving students flexible hours to meet up with classmates to study or complete projects. A 24-hour library can have a different purpose, students can come to read a novel for personal pleasure or grab some coffee and snacks from the food bar located inside.
A College also provides a useful online library that can be access to help students with their studies. This library offers three different databases which students can use to research class assignments. The three databases are EBSCOhost, Gale Power Search, and ProQuest. Here I can find articles, journals, and other sources of educationally based on the material in my search I conduct.
The first role of a school resource center is, supporting the teaching and learning of the institution or school. It supports by providing them the materials or resources that they need. Students are able to borrow books or other materials from the school library and refer to them to complete their homeworks or projects. Teachers are also able to borrow the materials from the library such as maps, pictures, books, globes and other interesting materials that will make learning more fun and exciting. Teachers will use those to aid their teaching in class. Besides materials, the library also provides learning infrastructure or facilities that are crucial to learning and teaching success. Furthermore, the school resource center supports teaching and learning by organizing programs such as computer classes or courses, ‘Program Nilam’, and so on. A quality library program will be able to help the students in their education achievement. Computer classes or courses will train the students to use the computer so that they are able to learn the basic skills of using a computer.
