Dear Mother, lately it has been really harsh conditions out here with rainy days, for food shortages and minimum sleep, yet somehow manageable. We are in an attack phase against the ruthless Germans at Vimy Ridge. Our Division commander Sir Arthur Currie was telling us about how we will conquer the ridge. He was telling his plan on how we could get to the invade the Germans and push them back though I can't say much about it. I was assigned to the front lines, even though the training he gave us was painful I think in opinion, I could be able to put in good use. Out here is a place no man wants the be. The conditions here are very rough. The weather is always gloomy, it's almost if not always raining out here and you are in a battle field with trenches and corpuses of once your fellow soldier in battle.

At Vimy ridge there are mines deep underground and it and that how we are able to get to the front lines without the Germans attack at us. Honestly, I couldn't believe we were able to dig the whole mine out and along with a few posts with light rail lines, hospitals, command posts, water reservoirs, ammunition stores, army rations like canned corn beef and communication centers. You would think it would be safe, but you still need to look out for other German miners but much safer …show more content…

Most of the fire power came from these new weapons called machine guns. It's basically a rapid firing gun that could be mounted on anything. It could shoot up to 450 to 600 rounds per minute. These new weapons could be very scary if it was pointing at us one could easily get a hundred casualties with just a few of them and the German army is not one to mess with. We also got planes that fly in the sky, they try to keep other Germans fighters away from the ground and a little something else can't really say but maybe if I'm fortunate enough to go home
