World Wide Consortium
Tim Bernes-Lee in 1989 created the World Wide Web, and in 1994 he and a few others established the World Wide Consortium. (a) The World Wide Consortium’s mission is “to lead the world wide web to its full potential by developing protocols and guidelines that ensure long-term growth for the web (a).” This is an international organization with a variety of members making up the organization. They all have a common goal which is to make the web standardized with rules and principles, and to date they have made over eighty recommendations.(a)
The World Wide Consortium has had three long-standing goals. These are to provide universal access, a semantic web, and a web of trust. Universal access means “to make the Web accessible to all by promoting technologies that take into account the vast differences in culture, languages, education, ability, material resources, access devices, and physical limitations of users on all continents (a).” Semantic Web means to build a software setting that allows everyone to utilize the assets that are accessible on the World Wide Web. Web of trust means “to guide the Web’s development with careful consideration for the novel legal, commercial, and social issues raised by this technology (a).” In this paper I am limiting my discussion to universal access and the issues surrounding it.
To help promote the three goals the consortium has also developed three design principles for the web. These principles are interoperability, evolution, and decentralization. For the web to have interoperability, a user needs to be able to use any hardware or software they want and still be able to access what’s on the web. When someone adds something to the web they need t...

...ortium and I knew nothing about the World Wide Consortium. It is good to know that there is a dedicated group setting guidelines and recommendation to achieve universal access to the web, making sure the web software is compatible o all users and is making the web a trusted way of doing business. I believe that this organization is helping the internet to continually grow successfully, and without this organization the internet probably would not be near as useful as it can be. People would probably just do what ever they felt like doing. I now realize how important it is to really think about a lot of issues when designing a website to make it universal accessible. Building a website is now not simply designing one, but also thinking about how everyone will be able to have access no matter what language they speak, how old they are, or if they have a disabled.
To a certain extent I can agree to the Supreme Courts rule in who gets custody of the children. The mother of the two children did give them up without thinking of the consequences of her actions. The ICWA however has helped many people in their cases and selected rulings. Although we cannot reverse the past, there is still ways we can incorporate our support in correcting the way the system works.
The first reason why Brazil is a wealthy country on a national scale is because it has low national debt! (document B) Secondly, Brazil is a wealthy country because they have one-quarter of the world’s arable land which is great for growing crops! (document B) Lastly, Brazil is a wealthy country because Brazil was marked the eighth highest GDP in the world in 2013! The United States dollar equivalent in trillions in Brazil in 2013 was 2.5 trillion dollars! (document A) GDP stands for “Gross Domestic Product” and is an estimate of the total value of all the goods and services a country produces in a year! As a result, Brazil has many advantages that make it a wealthy country on a national

The measure of growth is flawed, how countries see their growth is based on the consumption of their people. Many countries use the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) as an indicator for growth, as defined in It’s All Connected, “(GDP) is a calculation of the total monetary value of goods and services produced annually in a country” (Wheeler 11). The...
“Because of the rapid growth experienced by this country in terms of urban development, industrialization and population at the beginning of the 21st century, Brazil is facing a number of social, environmental and political challenges” (Meyer 2010). Over the years, Brazils infrastructure has been a topic of concern as the quality and quantity of growth seem to be lacking. One might be familiar with the recent 2016 Olympics in Rio and how many complaints were made about the unfinished quarters where people were staying and how the under developed the city
It is therefore necessary to look not just on the economy model but also on the way things are governed. Politics play an important role in the economic depression and it will also play an important role in the economic growth. Any long term growth will be dependent on the how the country is managed not just economically but also politically. It should be important to note that corruption in government is never good to the economy. In fact, history shows that corruption causes the economy to fall into crisis. Two things are needed to solve the problem of the economy, the right stimulation, as offered by the author, and the right policies and clean politics in Washington. With these, the country will be able to escape the depression that it is now in.

The Gini coefficient, a measure of wealth distribution shows us the trend of inequality in Brazil in years 2001 to 2009. the Gini has fallen for past six years and is comparatively very low in 2009. It has decreased the gap between rich and poor by redistribution of income and declining social inequality. The decrease in inequality has led to improvement in the life of low income people and also the working population has increased due to which better quality life experienced by most Brazilians.
“The Internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow.” Bill Gates. The Internet is vast and is just getting bigger. It has its own community that is open to the public. The Internet is becoming a platform all on its own. It is a stepping-stone in a direction that is unknown. The Internet has become so vast that there are now different versions of it. The different versions of the web are Web 1.0, Web 2.0, the main focus of this paper, and Web 3.0. Web 1.0 is all about sharing information. It is very bland and just gets the point across of what was needed. This how the Internet had started. Web 2.0 is sharing information with interaction. To me this means social media in some fashion. The website that was accessed has a way of interacting with the users whether it be through comments or giveaways on the web. Web 3.0 is the server interacting with the individual on a particular website. Amazon is the best example of Web 3.0 because it gives recommendations based on items that have been searched. “Among American adults 87% use the web, 68% connect...
According to Pease (2012), an international organization are conceived as formal institutions whose members are states and these are divided into two sub-groups called intergovernmental organizations (IGO) and non-governmental organizations (NGO). An IGO consists of states that voluntarily join, contribute financially, and assist in the decision making process. All of their members’ resolves, structures, and administrative protocols are clearly outlined in the treaty or charter. An example of an IGO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). First, all IGOs comes from an established government which can be further categorized by rules of membership which qualifies NATO because it is an alliance of about 30 members from North America and Europe. Secondly, IGOs can have limited participation in membership or restricted membership which qualifies NATO because this is a security agreement and it limits its involvement by confining it to an amalgamation of specific governmental, geographical, and martial considerations. Thirdly, IGOs are categorized by their purpose meaning the member can be multi or general purpose organization and they can take on any global issue (Pease, 2012). This qualifies NATO because over the years the organization has participated in several international war related issues such as the Korean War and the Cold War. Most recently, NATO, for the first time in history had to engage Article 5 of the treaty after the 9/11 attacks in New York City and the no-fly zone in the country of Libya.
Education is one of the most important factors in improving economic development in countries. Education allows countries to improve human capital which causes an increase in the rate of return to countries GDP (Kruss). Over the years, Brazil has lagged behind other countries in terms of education, causing the country to not be one the same level of productivity as other high-developing countries. The backwardness of education in Brazil stems from social and political differences throughout Brazil’s history and the large poverty cycle throughout the country.
