World War Two took place in 1939-1945 and involved the vast majority of the world's nations with all of the great powers. It is difficult to include all of the important events into a short history book. But Norman Stone has done that with his book World War Two, he has done a great job at highlighting all the important events. Stone includes the struggles that countries overcame and victories that they won. He is concise about the conflicts during the deadliest war of human history. World War Two written by Norman stone was a short history of World War two. After World War one, all america wanted was peace. But with the desire of vengeance and demand of security from Germany to keep them from rearming, world war two started. Stone starts off in the beginning of what happened after World War that led to the beginning of world war two. When Hitler invaded poland, the response that Britain and France had was declaring war on Germany. With the past experiences at World War One, using their new method of blitzkrieg, germany attacks Denmark and Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, and France. It was quickly conquered by Germany. Then Germany attacks britain from the air, the Britain Air force was not a match for the Germans and overall it was a failure for Germany. The next attack Germany went to North Africa.Germany need assistance from their Italian allies and it all turned out to be a failure. When germany invades germany, they were making progress but it was a downfall for them. Russia was a big country and on top of that the weather conditions were making it hard for germany’s war efforts. The soviet had determination and soon it was too much for germany to overcome and in the end they had to retreat and get out of soviet’s territor... ... middle of paper ... ...ins Poland. It ended formally with peace treaties a few months after the armistice but the world war two there was no real peace treaty with germany until 46 years after. This is convincing because when the big three met the meeting broke up without any agreements. Stone’s World World Two is a great and fast read about world war two. he makes it one of the best read by writing it in a european perspective and making it quirky. His novel is great for learning about the causes of ww2 and the battles that happened. He also includes the aftermath that happened after world war 2 that many readers are curious about after the war ended. Overall, world war two was the deadliest war in america and it has definitely shaped our history and u.s.
An article called, “The Real War,” written by Roger J. Spiller, begins with a quote by Walt Whitman, “The real war will never get in the books.” The author writes about an interview with Paul Fussell, who was a soldier in World War Two and has written many books about World War One and World War Two. Fussell is very opinionated and critical about other books written about these wars, asserting they are not realistic or portray the true essence of what really occurred by soldiers and other people participating in the wars.
Sister Claire Evelyn Trestrail was the eldest of five being born on the 10th of December, 1877 in Clare, South Australia. Trestrail served in the First World War as a nurse following in her mother’s footsteps who was a trained nurse, Acting Matron of King Edward Hospital in Perth and also had involvement within the Red Cross and the Saint John’s Ambulance Services. Trestrail’s younger siblings also had involvement within the First World War with her two younger brothers; John Henry and Amarald Glen, serving in the royal Flying Corps and respectively, 1 Machine Battalion. Amarald was also presented with a Military Medal for Gallantry at Villaret. Sister Ella also served as a nurse, got married, but tragically returned as an amputee. It was only her youngest sister Amy who did not serve during the war.
World War II was a war that proved to the world the awesome power of the United States. Many events led up to the U.S. involvement in the war, topped off by the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor. Many great people contributed to leading the United State to victory in the war. They include General Douglas MacArthur, General Dwight Eisenhower, and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. World War II also consisted of many major events including Operation Overlord and the U.S. bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Overall the United States played a major role in World War II and displayed their power through strong generals and their initiative and strong leadership in major events.

In the book Night and the movie Unbroken World War II is going on. World War II was going on with the whole world. Both of these stories happened during this time. The characters went through rough times and did things that seemed impossible. They fought through these hard times and came out strong.

Initially the United States did not want to interfere with a war going on in a different continent. At the start of the war America began a state of isolationism which kept America away from the war; until its “breaking point”. America’s deviation from isolationism in World War II is what establishes them as a powerhouse country economically an. Also, how America’s growth industrially lead to a post-war boom.
The first step in identifying whether or not the peace settlement after World War I (WWI), would be the effectiveness of communication to the Germans. In order to properly communicate, one must simply tell the people involved what the conditions are and the consequences for not following them. In addition, the demands must be moderate and the opponent needs to be made clear that it will not favor them in the long run if they do not comply to the terms. While Germany was effectively given the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, one could argue that it was done in an unfair manner. Germany was not even present at the negotiations of the Treaty of Versailles and the Germans expected something along the lines of Wilson’s 14 point plan. At the end of the discussions,

Wars are good business. They create an immediate demand for a wide variety of materials needed by the government in order to fight the war. They create work opportunities for people that might not ordinarily be considered part of the normal work force. And, while not necessarily good for the soldiers engaged in the fighting, wars are always good for the businesses that provide the materials used in a war. The Treaty of Versailles is an example of how the neglect of principles proposed by the Catholic Church, namely social restoration, just accords, long-term security and physical reconstruction, can lead to lasting global repercussions and future wars. The sanctions were enforced in the hope of slowing German recovery and eliminating future conflict. However, the United States didn’t sign this treaty because we recognized that it didn’t give the Germans a fair deal or promote long-term security (Treaty).
It has been almost a century since the first Paris Peace Conference was hold, but even until now, it is a popular yet also controversial event in the history of the world. The Paris Peace Conference took place in 1919 involving more than 1,000 representatives from over 30 nations. The results of the Conference are five treaties regarding terms that, according to the Conference, shall prevent any upcoming conflicts among nations. Although World War II started only after 15 years, nonetheless, the treaties did function as a buffer between countries. Although many resolutions were discussed, the negotiation of the Conference revolves around four main topics, reparation from the previous war losses or limitations on the main Central Power, Germany, self-recognition, President Woodrow Wilson's Fourteen Points, and the annexation of land.
