2500 Words5 Pages

World War I was a war that was fought between July 28, 1914, and November 11, 1918. It was known as the Great War and in the United States, people knew it as the European War. There were many casualties that took place, both sides lost millions in total. It is widely known that World War I took most of the time in trenches in which soldiers of both sides fought. Extremely lethal new technologies arose. It was the first time that a massive war was fought not only on land and sea but in the skies with airplanes and below the sea. The two sides were known as the Allies or Entente. They were primarily of Great Britain, Italy, France, Russia, and later on in the war, the United States came in. The Central Powers consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire (Turkey). A couple smaller nations also decided to align themselves with the Allies or the Central Powers. In the pacific, an island known as Japan decided to align themselves with the Allies because they wanted to take hold of German colonies. The Allies defeated the Central Powers and became victorious. In 1917, the United States joined the war, they brought many troops to help the Allies. They brought equipment that the Central Powers had no match against. The war resulted in a changed political landscape. There was the destruction of three empires: Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and Russian. As a result, new borders were drawn. Due to the problems caused after the war took place, it was a cause that led to the Second World War. My goal in this paper is to write about World War I and the new technologies that were used. To achieve this goal, I have organized my paper into five main sections.

...merican ships by Germans and the Zimmerman note to get Mexico to declare war on the U.S. triggered the United States to declare war on the Central Powers. When Americans troops collaborated the Allies, power in favor went to the Allies. After all the fighting, peace treaties were signed. The most known treaty was the Treaty of Versailles signed on July 28, 1919. These peace treaties were meant to be an agreement of both parties to stop fighting.
In conclusion, World War I was a time of change. It brought new alterations to the corrupted government and the geography of Europe. New technologies arose. At the end of the war, the Versailles treaty was endorsed and all blame was directed at Germany. They were forced to pay for economic reparations. The war was horrible for everyone that fought in it. There were massive casualties. Over 16 and a half million people died.
