World War 2 Primary Weapons

World War 2 was a major war that waged all across the world. Over 60 million people died in the war and many of them were simple infantry. Every country gave their infantry different, new and old weapons to get ahead of the rest. These weapons included primary machine guns, close ranged weapons such as pistols, swords, and knives, and grenades the are aimed to destroy other infantry or armoured vehicles.

The infantry in WWII had access to many primary weapons and some of the most famous are Ppsh-41, Vickers machine gun, and M1 carbine. The M1 carbine was lightweight and easy to use carbine. It was used by the United States when they entered the war. Even though it was used by military it was a popular civilian weapon at the time. It used a 0.30 caliber cartridge casing for the bullet. It is semi-automatic which was inefficient in the trench battles since machine guns were needed to take down charging soldiers. Each box magazine could only hold 15 or 30 bullets. It can fire 750 rounds a minute if fired repeatedly. The bullets could travel 1990 feet in one second but only had an effective firing range of about 900 feet. The m1 was the first carbine rifle to be named M in the system the United State government was going to use to name all carbine rifles. This gun was lead by the M2 and M3. The Vickers machine gun is large machine gun operated by 3 crew members at a time. It was developed by Vickers for the British army in World War 1 and was kept and used for World War 2. Because of the Vickers machine guns heavy rate of fire the machine gun was water cooled.
